Hi All,

I think this is maybe my first post in here??

Anyway, I was looking into buying a 300TT a few weeks back but changed my mind for a TVR. Then I canged it again for an Intergrale and now I could doing full circle and looking for a 300ZX again.

So what I will be after is of course a TT model as I want it as quick as possible so may as well go for turbo from the off? I also dont want a car any newer than 1992 so I can get my classic insurance cover.

Not too bothered about colour but am not a fan of white cars unless they are Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts, but thats another story.

So folks this thread is not a wanted advert as it first appears but more of a general question to you owners out there...

"Should I buy my first 300 TT or should I stay away and look for something else?"

In reply to this question can you please give me a brief reason either why I should go for it or stay away??

By the way I am considering importing one from Japan if I cant find the right one over here.

Oh yeah, also looking arounf the £3K mark so does this influence your thoughts??

As it says 1 post i think its a pretty good guess that it proberbly is your first post.

My advice is read some of the posts on here before you make your mind up but i will say the ZED is an awesome car go and test drive a couple

I think u need 2 decide 4 yourself & do some research 4 yourself

but if you test drove one that would make your mind up imho the Z32TT is most underestimated car in the world !

3k will get you an ok zed. Be prepared to spend money on it though!

Yes you should buy one. The cars have character and "feel" about them. They make driving enjoyable and exhilarating. And look stunning still!

If I was you I would try and spend 4k and go manual TT, you'll never look back.

its up to you bud, but considering this is a zed club, pretty much every one is going to say buy a zed! :hyper: :hyper:

if u do decide to, i would recomend an import, as the undersides never seem to be as weathered as the UK spec ones

good luck with ur hunting!!!!

oh yeah, and by the way...........

GET A ZED!!!!!

Evo magazine "best drivers nissan barring the skyline"

My quiver consists of a Ferrari 456gt, Nissan 300tt, Mazda RX8 and a BMW E34 535 sport

I would get rid of them in reverse order.

The question i get asked the most is why do you have the nissan AND the ferrari? I always reply "good question" as the Ferrari is prestige and performance whereas the nissan is just perfomance except in the US where it is viewed as a 'cool car'.

My take is 9/10ths of ferrari for less than 15th of the cost but with comparable ownership costs. Do not think you will not serious spend money on a 15year old car. If you spend 6k on an already sorted 300 you will probably save big in the long run.

Yeah it only says post 1 after I have posted. I was unsure if I had posted in here before until then. But cheers for the welcome.

Cheers to all for the replies. I know doing research is the best thing and that is the main reason for this post. Best way to find info I have always found is to go straight to those that know the most and ask them.

I also appriciate that everyone in here likes 300's but I also read in many for sale adds on this site that some owners are selling up to move onto different cars. So perhaps they would also have valid opinions to input?

I am currently working in North Wales and pretty close to Chester. I notice a few folks in this area and so probably a good time to meet a few people with cars for sale and see if any take my fancy I would guess?

I have a history of Cosworth cars and old Escorts, currently I own a high spec BDA Mk1 RS1600 and a Mk2 Escort YB Cosworth Turbo ongoing project. So i know what you mean when you say these cars can cost money to run!

I am basically after a fun weekend car as my trusty old PAssat gets me to and from work during weekdays and the Mrs has a little Clio for the shopping runs. So not really looking to do high miles, but the miles I do will be fun!!

Reading your comments to date I am guessing its the same as many cars and pay more money for a sorted car then have to shell it out yourself? I have about £28K in my Mk2 Escort already and so appriciate this more than most!

Thanks so far.

How rare is a manual car then? I seem to see mostly Autos??

How rare is a manual car then? I seem to see mostly Autos??

Not as rare as people have you think, difference is, most peole with Manuals dont sell up so oftern!

I see. Would prefer a manual to be honest. I only like Autos in Jags, fat lads cars! ;)

its up to you bud, but considering this is a zed club, pretty much every one is going to say buy a zed! :hyper: :hyper:

Buy a KIA

Manuals are nt rare just on jspec the auto is more popular in Japan.

Regarding people selling up, i suppose people like a change, but i have had most jap cars & 4 me Z32TT is the best, alot of people also come back after trying different cars.

KIA?? What ever...

Looking at a nice Z in Japan just now. It is completely standard and looks absolutely mint. I can get it in country within my first buget also.

With a histoy of modified cars however, will I be satisfied with standard?

Keep looking at the Silver car in the for sale section. Posibly best to buy a modded one off the shelf?

Cheers to the serious folks by the way. I see all forums have their children.
