ok this is proving fun

I checked all the fuel pipes on saturday with throttle cover off nothing seems to be leaking it does smell above the passenger side regulator but problem is you cant see FA with how crammed it is

Ill put some talc on it to try

but when I put it in the garage last night it temp gauge fine

but I could swear I had a bit of a burning smell from engine

NOW this morning it appears to be running on 5 cylinders no sign of mechanical failure so its looking electrical

take it i check the coil packs first

then what ?

it also Ive put 35 quid in its back on empty almost and has done around 40 miles

shall I do the ecu check myself later or just get a auto elec to plug a diagnostics in

check what cylinder its missng on!

easy test pull a coilpack connector of one at a time, when you do so the engine note should drop off, try to stall! you will find the culprit cylinder/s when the engine note remains the same you have found the cylinder at fault possible symtoms are

coil pack connector fouled/faulty

coil pack

spark plug

injector connector fouled/faulty

injector o-ring failed or injector itself

ptu

compression

simple test would be to find culprit cylinder and fit a spare coilpack and new spark plug externally to cylider make contact to the plenum with spark plug and check for spark! if spark is present...

then you need to check coilpack, spark plug first if there fine

check injector connector clean/replace refit

and go through the common list untl you find fault and fix

check the vacuem side of the FPR possible internal fault if it pees out of fuel then you will know it , but sounds like unburnt fuel on a big scale, if left untreted your engine may get damaged due to bore wash, also when you fix problem replace the oil and filter otherwise you may cause engine problems
