First remove the sensor thingy connector from the top. If you don't reconnect that once your done the car will barely run. Undo the circlip from the tube going into the top of the air filter. Then remove the tube from the top of the air filter assembley. Its tight (what aint in a zed!) but it can be jiggled out without to much hassle. Then flick off the pair of clips at each side of the air filter box to remote the top section. Then you can get at a bolt that is at both sides of the under filter box part. Its out of sight but not to hard to remove. Then once the bottom box bit has is not bolted to anything then jiggle it to remove it from the the two side rectangular plastic air hoses. Now i had to bend the bottom bit of the air filter box to get it out. It has a central metal plate that is err bendy. Don't go nuts and really bend it as when you put it back in it has to be bent back to being totaly true so the top section can clip on it seamlessly.

Thanks mate I've on the out of sight bit to undo, I just cann't seem to be able to do the last part I'm so tempted to cut the thing out as a have nice Apexi in there now or I did have untill I just removed it.

If you're junking it then I think there are about four rivets which can be drilled out. Then it will come out easily in three pieces.

I am going for an apexi soon. I am tempted to keep the bottom bit in with parts of it cut off as a water shield to protect the air filter.

Yep, that's what I have done but now I need to get behind the Air Box to do some work in time for the Tunnel Run.

If you put in the Apexi filter the big red one it only just fits with some pushing but the Air box can stay in intact.

Thanks chaps

Right I've decided to stop faffing about and just cut the blasted thing out :D

The front left and right bolt holes which go through the tinny side fixings have holes which have a slot in them.Just slacken off the bolts and rip the fooker out.Can easily be straightened if you want to refix. ;)

Don't forget its also bolted to the splash guard ;) There's 2 bolts to the sides under the headlights as well...

Thanks guys I got out the hacksaw blade and cut the blasted thing out in the end.

 Woman seen welding hacksaw blade in quiet Surrey Close

Should have just yanked the whole thing out! Good thing too as if you leave the bottom 1/2 of the air box and plug up the Apexi, the nose panel actually hits the top of the Apexi, giving it a nice dent, small but it's a dent still!

I know mines got one hardly visiable but it's still there

I think to get my lower airbox out I stood on my front panel and stamped on it with me size 10 steel toecap then just ripped the fooka out and wrenched the mountings out! Maybe not the way Nisssan would remove but who cares?
