Hello,

Have a problem with High idle  Have conducted a search and found a few topics but nothing that can assist me.

My engine idle's at approx 14-1500 when warm. :mac1: If i disconnect the Yellow Idle valve there is no change in rpm, if i operate the Aircon as usual the Rpm increase's. I have checked tps setting and this was setup on a conzult last. the voltage at idle is 0.42 volts.if i disconnect grey tps connector there is a slight rise in Rpm then it drops back to 1500 rpm.

I have tried to perform a basic idle adjustment with idle valve yellow connector disconnected and i have no decrease only an increase in rpm.

All connectors are clean and corrosion free.

I have no vacuum leaks and i have reciently corrected a fault causing the Cont Engine Fuse to blow. this was down to an exposed Oxygen sensor heater wire.

I can only think that the Variable idle valve is seized or jammed open.

Idle is stable at approx 1500 rpm but under load drops to 800rpm ie: when in drive or reverse.

Engine never stalls either.

Any idea's?? other than putting it on a Conzult??before i pull whatever hair i have left out :nelson: :D

try the ecu water temp sender ;)

take the idle valve out and clean it it can be stripped right down and just gets carbon build up in it. this solved my idle problem.

I was going to do this at a later date! just wanted to be sure i had not missed anything ;)

I would stick a new temp sensor in and go from there IMO! ;)

Cheers ;) How are you getting on with the Zed?

If the idle is high without the connector on then its not the temp sensor. Vac leak or idle valve I'd say. One point, is the throttle cable adjusted correctly? ;)

Yes Throttle cable is adjusted to manual spec. ;) and i understand why you asked this.

Throttle flaps closing fully? Could be gunked up causing them to stick open slightly...

Did these when i had them off the old engine.

Its probably the Variable idle control valve that needs a clean :headvswal

I forgot to give a clean while the plenum was on the bench :nelson: ;)
