hi guys, i was drivin home last night in my Hyundai accent(daily runabout) and suddenly the gear stick became all wobbly i couldnt engage any gear and the car became stuck in 2nd gear, i managed to get it home.

ive removed the gear stick surround, thinking something had come loose or snaped under there, but all seems fine.

am i right in thinkin that that the gears are changed via a cable, as it seems that this could have snapped, or am i barking up the wrong tree?

any help apreciated

cheers

si

sounds like it mate if not check under the bonnet if its got a linkage that none of the ball joints have popped out. if its a cable sounds like its snapped or a bracket some where has gone HTH

cheers mate, all the brackets seem to be ok, im pretty sure its the cable thats snaped, its just i didnt realize the gear linkage was cable, i thought it would have to be a bit more heavy duty. sounds an easy enough job though.

thanks again.
