headlamp cleaning

I finaly manged to get my headlamps off.. but i did'nt remove the inside furthest bolt. I removed the headlamp from the inside black rail thingy.with some drilling! But it the headlamp will mount back on the rails fine and secured with a screw.

 

Manged to get the headlamp glass cover off ok. But i need something to disolve all the grey sealant because its very icky and tough to remove, anything i could apply to the grey goop to make it go runny?

 

Also the spotlight chamber thingy has a oval glass lens thing which i will clean like the big glass cover. But why has this lens got a big u shaped object in front of it to obscure it. Can i remove it to get more headlamp power?

    NOOOOOOOO!

    DONT remove the sealant. Leave it alone. It will soften when you warm up the light for re assembly.
