Trying to post up an excel list for Silverstone on the site in place of the scruffy one that is there at present but it looses the format and looks even worse

As I want to use Excel to record payment details ie usernames, actual names, addresses, etc it would be nice to also use part of it to show users that had paid up to go to the show

ย

Have tried to post it up but it lost all the format and came out looking Shite

ย

Help please pc gurus

I can fix it so that you can attach an excel file (if you can't already), but can't do much about the formatting, its a forum feature that it turns turns multiple spaces into single ones. Think it ignores tabs too. Only thing you may be able to do is use a non-proportional font and then use the code feature.

Like fixedsys

Turns words into multiple ones too I think ;)

an easy cop-out would be to take a screenshot of the table (zoomed out to fit it all in) and then post it up as a picture, but that'd look shite and the text would be too small, unless you paste 2 or 3 shots on top of eachother.

have you tried exporting as a CSV

ย

...or wrap CODE /CODE tags around it

ย

then you can have as many spaces as you like....
....and a proportional font!

simple, anything you write between

tags on here appears like it does below. so if you export your spreadsheet into a tab-delimited text file, then copy and paste it into your next post on here, then put
at the start, and
at the end, it should appear as below:
FELLA	OWED
-----	----
john	ยฃ15
kev	PAID
bob	ยฃ15
dave	PAID
ed	ยฃ15
frank	ยฃ15
gray	PAID

I cut'n'paste from Excel for my membership lists and that comes out messy. Can't remember the reason now, but I think it may be something to do with a combination of tabs and spaces. Exporting as fixed length records that are padded with spaces should work - is that possible ?

STILL A senile old sod will try later on

ok try this, when you save it from Excel, save it as "Formatted Text (space delimited) (*.prn)"

make sure that your columns in the spreadsheet itself are wide enough to accommodate the longest username.

then, exit Excel and rename the .PRN file that you just saved to .TXT, then open that!
