Me?? yeh we used to breed boxers :)

lol Mike that i'll teach me to talk to er in doors while on here. ment mental tony.

but yer the boxer is sweet too :)

I've got a 5 month old Akita/Rottweiler cross. Absolutley bloody huge!! He's so strong I'll be riding him to work soon, lovely dogs though. Most important thing with Akita's is training. Start from day one as they will test you constantly, and with these dog's it's all about respect, which you have to earn from them.

I'd definatly advise having a look round the net for info about them (did you know Japanese Shoguns used them to hunt bears!!!!!) They are excellent gaurd dogs as well.

Good luck mate I'm sure you'll have fun, if I can be of any help lemmie know.

Is an Japanese Akita the same as a Japanese Tosa? They're amazing things.

I fancy getting a dog if the wife wants children.

Probably get something a bit smaller if it comes to it though.

Damn it, that's it, we're definately getting a dog this year, lol.

We vowed not to get another after our last dog died prematurely, but once a dog lover, always a dog lover.

Would love a Doberman, or a Border collie, but I hear they tend to round up children, lol, hmmmm, could be quite handy then, in a totally non pedophile way of course, I was reffing to my own kids, oh just shoot me now, lol.

Don't get a Dobi collie cross, it will round the kids up then eat them

No realy I would love another dog but I want to go back to Aus and I don't want tying down to the commitment.

NICE ONE BUD

really nice dog there

i have an alaskan malamute pup about 1 year old now, im sure you know but our type of dogs need a firm handler and have to be shown who the alfa male is once thats sorted you can enjoy years of fun with your new best friend

Sorry to be morbid here but I ran over and killed our family pet yesterday at lunchtime. Lovely border collie 6 months old. Came home for lunch , pulled onto the drive and felt the car go over a soft bump. It was a freak thing, the poor little fella must have come across the garden excited and ran straight under the wheels. I never saw him. He was quite a big pup so i still can't figure out how it happened. Took some time to console the kids but i feel like right b***D.

i wouldn't mind but i'm not a dog lover, he was really for the mrs. and kids but i really liked this little fella and he felt the same , would follow me everywhere and ignore everyone else!! Wish I had been driving my van and not the z i surely would've seen him.

Sorry to hear that mate - what a shame.

No point in blaming yourself - it was just one of those things.

i just got a japanese akita puppy i will get some pics up as soon as i can

nice 1 mate

ive got a pure white akita hes such a teddy he looked like a big fluff ball when he was a pup but 4 years later hes 15 stone and daft as a bag of badgers such personality hes better that the cat ive got that just sleeps and ruins the furniture

cute, till they get big and want to eat you lol

what do u mean wait till they get big....

its fooking huge for a puppy anyway!

how old is your pup tony.

very simalar colouring to what mine had.

i ask because of the ears not pointing yet

we have an akita. great dogs. people have mentioned about training from an early age. its the best thing you can do. these dogs can be very protective of their own. if you have kids they will protect them like their own pups. when cousin johnny comes over and gets rough with the kids they have been known to get protective.so make yourself the dominant figure with the dog ( and the wife at all times ) and it will be the best friend youll have.otherwise great dogs.
