My accelerator pedal will stick in the up position when driving (it's an auto).

I have to push down quite hard and then it goes straight into power mode!

Staerting to get a little annoying now1

Does anyone know what the cause is and how to fix it?

Obvious thing is to check the cable isn't getting trapped and that the throttle butterflies are opening smoothly.

A similar thread appears every few months.....common problem, and very dangerous!

Gradually the metal breather works its way outwards and catches on the linkages. Put something like loctite on it and knock it back in lightly with a hammer.

No, this is different. I checked that when a saw the thread.

Mine is hard to push down sometimes, I think it may be something to do with a kick down sensor or something.

Cheers any way.

There's just a switch for kickdown so it wouldn't make it hard to press, it's got to be the cable or throttle that's sticking.

Fair enough, just thought i'd ask. I'll start with the pedal its self and work my way to the throttle cables.

Cheers,

Starting at the butterflies is easiest mate. Work the centre throttle linkage where the cables go onto and see how stiff the movement is. If it's stiff then pull the cable to see if it's that or the linkage.

Check the linkage free play might need adjustment, could be the throttle butterflies are 'closing' to far ie vertical they should be just of vertical you need to check the service manual for exact procedure
