Hi,

I have grey blue smoke emitting from both Exhausts a few seconds after starting Engine from Cold Only!?

It is quite dense untill it has warmed up? and smells strong of fuel/oil?

I have no idea of what it could be other the over Rich Fuel/ Air ratio at cold start.

I would say it is gone after 1/4 mile of light driving from cold.

Engine Runs as sweet as all through this period with no hessitation.

I have no access to a consult or other and would be able to isolate the problem if it was to only happen when hot, but not sure about when Cold only?

Any Idea's? This is a freshly Built Engine! :headvswal

Cheers

one cause could be.....

did you do the valve stem oil seals ?? leakage overnight into the bores which is burned off in the first few minutes of starting.

thought you were a mechanic by trade bud?

Yes mate and you thought right! I am a mechanic by trade? Thanks for pointing that out :headvswal

But you tell me a Mechanic that knows every car inside out??

I would not have built an Engine from scratch without putting New Stem seals in would i?

I am looking for simular symptoms that other Zed owners have experianced so i can get a few other ideas as to what it could be without stripping the Engine bay down Just yet! and i have no Diagnostic Equipment to hand for the zed or a working Co2 Meter.

Thanks for your help :D

i got vodka :hyper:.

the only thing i could think the could cause blue smoke at startup is the stem seals. what about pcv's they can leak oil into the plenum which could drip into the valve chamber overnight. have you had a check under the balance bar for puddling of oil? whcih could indicate a pcv problem. :)

did it do it from when you first started it up after the rebuilt or has it developed from 400 miles of running in.

Only lately The problem is i hardly use it! Maybe once a Month for a 10 mile trip.

Where i hardly use it it gets real damp inside so it takes at least 15 minutes to clear all the windows with the Aircon and heated screen.

Do you have Damp Trouble with yours?
dont worry as i hav the same prob with mine, only use mine once or twice a wk and only short runs, and mines all steamed up,i just think its a 16yr old car and your going to suffer from a bit of damp, just check carpets and spare wheel bit 4 any leaks or damp patches, got a tiny leak frm the targas but nothin to worry about, hope this puts yr mind at ease ;)
