I've actually been doing some work for this ship, the MSC Napoli. For some of the cleanup operations for that ship. My company's been apointed as agents for the vessel to oversee management of the salvage.

I've arranging services for removal of the containers from the vessel itself.

It will be impossible to register the bikes as their serial numbers are known. Unless they get broken for parts, which won't make them much money as the bikes are new anyway so no one's going to want the spares.

2 agents from my office are down there at the moment.

im sorry but this situation has got way out of control, the local town is being terrorised by the asses trying to get a freebie

Agreed. The beach has been ruined by beachcombers. They seem to think that discarding all the rubbish all over the place is going to help matters.

It's supposed to have been cordoned off today by police and security today to stop further waste build up. Christ knows why it's taken them so long to do that.

i know a few people who have been down today

ebay will be there friend for the forthcoming week LMAO

They've fukked that beach, they broke into sealed containers and went through people's personal stuff and they're basically on the rob.

The bikes will be worth a fair bit as parts or donors for ringing. :(

I read in the paper that people have salvage rights but the law says they have to inform the owner's to be able to keep the things they find, wish i had got down there and found one of them bikes. People are just getting anything they can get their hands on had a pic of a guy holding packets of babies nappies

??? sorry why is your company involved,??? the salvage firm is smit, and are based in argentina, i have a relative who is a loss adjuster for a firm that is handling SOME of the claim and deals with smit's a lot ive heard

if a general average is declared he will become HEAVILY involved

Actually the majority of mess is from containers that have been smashed apart on the rocks. The carnage on the beach is quite unbelievable.

By the way i have been there just out of curiosity and to have a nose. LOL

Sorry....is my company not allowed to be involved? Afterall, I do work for the world’s biggest maritime services agency....

Smit-tak are not based in Argentina. I think you'll find they are based in Holland.

My company has been appointed protective agents for the vessel. We are not salvaging the vessel itself, but are arranging services for items to be landed shore based and the shore based cleanup on behalf of MSC. I’m not actually working directly with it, other people within my company are though so I can’t give anymore details other than that.

If your car was in one of the containers it would be knackered like all the rest of the cars that were in containers. There was 2 jeeps in the sand and a tractor floating in the sea. Probably out of 20 containers 10 were ripped open. :)

There was a family from Sweden who'd shipped out a container load of all their possessions overseas and it beached, the container was opened and all their possessions looted.

I think all the looting's a bit sick TBH. You'd expect this in parts of Africa maybe....where people have nothing.

The Salvage operations is still going on if anyone's interested. All cargo should be landed sometime towards the end of next month. Then it's Smit's involvement to refloat the vessel and tow it for breaking.
