Expect some have already seen but WTF

Could be SPAM (which I hate), but I like my cars and dont want have to pay stupid prices for petrol, so what the hell. It seems a reasonable idea...

READ THIS

I know everybody hates SPAM, but just read on, this is about PETROL PRICES.

Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to 89P a litre by the summer.

Want petrol prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united

action.

Phillip Holsworth, in the USA, offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the ‘don’t buy petrol on a certain day’

campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just

laughed at us because they knew we wouldn’t continue to ‘hurt’ ourselves by

refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a

problem to them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan

that can really work.

PLEASE READ IT AND JOIN WITH US!

By now you are probably thinking petrol priced at about 77P a litre is super

cheap. Me too! It is currently 79P – 83P for regular unleaded in some towns.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think

that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at 77P – 80P, we need to take aggressive

action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace…not sellers.

With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take

action. The only way we can see the price of petrol come down is if we hit

someone in the pocket by not buying their petrol!

AND.

We can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How?

Since we all rely on our cars, we can’t just stop buying petrol. But we can

have an impact on petrol prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here’s the idea: For the rest of this year, DON’T purchase ANY petrol from

the two biggest oil companies (which are now one), ESSO and BP. If they are

not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If

they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But

to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol

buyers.

It’s simple to do!! Now, don’t wimp out on me at this point…keep reading and

I will explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to about 30 people. If each of you send it to at

least 10 more (30x10=300) and those 300 send it to at least 10 more

(300x10=3000)…and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth

generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If

those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then

30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further,

you guessed it….THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all YOU have to do is send this to 10 people. That’s all.

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten

more people within one day of receipt, all 3000 MILLION people could

conceivably be contacted within the next eight days!!! I’ll bet you didn’t

think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can

make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69P a LITRE RANGE AND

KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

This is common sense really. If every one ALWAYS bought from the cheapest garage in say a 10 mile radius then they would all attempt to be cheapest. However, where they win is by the cartel approach and all charge the same, so by identifying certain companies it has the potential to work. Of course you would always need to change you allegience to the cheapest as soon as prices are reduced and then you're back at the cartel situation again ....

Good idea in principle but with one major flaw. I can’t quote exact figures but I believe that around 60 – 70 % of the total cost of a litre of petrol is tax and therefore goes straight to the government. The boycotting of certain oil companies would not affect the revenue that the government raise through taxation on petrol. Remember that the oil companies supply petrol worldwide at the same cost and yet in the US you pay around $1.50 for a gallon.

Another case of the British being screwed by the government frown.gif

What we need to do is get all the performance owners clubs to rally down to London in protest, bring the city to standstill, it might not work but it'll be a funny day out biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Lol what a load of crap. Those companies choose to charge the price they wish.

LOL We are dependant on a product they provide, in which case the balls in BP or any other large oil company's court.

Besides OPEC choose oil prices not forcourt garages.

Yet in the UK the goverment like steve r says throws this all out the window.

Whats the likelihood that the original email was written by someone who works for Shell or Texaco?

Basically if you hit shell esso and BP the 3 major suppliers of petrol they will moan to OPEC and the Goverment who will be forced to cut oil price taxation, these companies have a lot of political clout (espeically Shell who provide oil to most people) that the goverment will listen,
