when i put my foot down the turbos kick in fine but about 2 seconds later the car stops accelerating and it makes a funny humming noise.i think its when its changing gear. then when it does change the gear it stops slowing down. its an automatic.

sorry if this is hard to understand. its hard to explain in writing!

Has any one got any ideas what the problem is?

i thought it might be one of the gaskets going on the turbos.

Thanks

Nick

could be a fuel problem . ie not getting enough so the power is cut back . could be air leaking on the boost side . check these first mate :duffer: :duffer:

On an auto you shouldn't lose boost on gear change. The revs should stay about the same, a little bit of slow gear change.

I can't think what the humming noise would be without hearing it matey.

The only thing i can think of is that it's to do with the gearbox, maybe a worn torque convertor?

you mean it starts to accelarate again once it changes gear? Have you tried booting the car in each gear and changing the gears manualy to see if it does it then?

yer. thats what i mean. it does it in every gear.

Nick.

every gear, how weird. i still think it's more to do with the torque convertor on the box than the engine or maybe even a vacuum leak that's slurring the gearchanges a bit

do you think its any thing to do with the turbos?another thing i forgot to mention it struggles to get into gear when i boot it thats when it makes the humming noise.

ok if your in top gear driving normally when you put your foot hard down the car drops down a gear or two the revs shoot up and the car accelarates off pretty damn quick

Good idea i was just about to say that, i'm 100% sure its the box, something to do with the vacuum hence the humming (leak)

if its a vacuum leek is there a common place where it leeks from?and if its the torque converter would it be easy to fix and would it cost much for another one?

Nick

mine just started doing this tonight aswell going up to the garage tomorrow to see about something else so going to ask them what it is mines has just had a new gearbox and engine rebuild.
