Left off tonight from work and 5 miles down the road i had to get greenflag to come and rescue me

My NA was misfiring and bassicly i lost most power, kept nearly stalling it, it sounded like a diesel or a moped or somthing. I think i could smell some burning to but not sure, and i was going through quite a bit of petrol.

The greenflag fella said with the burning smell it could be a coil on one of the cylinders? (im a engine newB)

or somthing as simple as a spark plug.

gonna have to get it looked at tommorow but any ideas? does this sound about right? also how much £££ would i be looking at ?

could be just a dodgy connector. with the engine running wiggle the connectors to the coils then the injectors listen for a change in engine noise this will tell you problem cylinder or two.. clean the connectors. and take for a spin around the block. the engine is a nightmare for a dodgy contact.

Did you get any warranty?

Tell them to look at the PTU, AFM and electrical connectors as mentioned above.

Ok also what i forgot to add was that the same problem occured this morning on the way to work, however it fixed itself after bout 5 mile of driving then went fine, I go to leave off work and the problems back.

I wouldnt know where to find the connectors to the coils and the injectors, i really am a newB, obviously its one of the wires thats connected to the cylinder?

The connectors to the coil packs are the ones you see in the gaps of the plenum (big silvery thing on top of the engine) there are loads of connectors all over the engine though and they could all need a clean, to check the PTU find someone local and swap them over to see if that cures it and same for the AFM.
