Well after a year of trying to do a bit here and there on the rims and 8 grueling hours to take all 100 seized bolts out the wheels i decided to have the rims polished professionally.

The guy who did them is called Paul Sankey and works in Burton upon Trent in Staffordshire.

Top top guy, really friendly and very cheap, £20 a rim

To remove all the pitting, scuff marks and my shit attempts at getting rid of the pitting took him an hour and a half to get this finish when i was working on them for HOURS and HOURS!!!! :D

They're awesome!

The centres are going in for polishing in 4 weeks time when he has them booked in around his contracting work for £40 each (they're a tough job with the paint still on them)

I'll bring one with me to the midlands meet tomorrow if anyone's interested in seeing his work

I agree that the finish is excellent but £80 for an hour and a halves work!

That's a pretty high hourly rate.

nononono 1 and a half hours PER rim so 80 quid for 6 hours work!

They look very nice Nick, but at £240 for the four for polishing only , you have already done the tedious bit of splitting them, its not exactly cheap.

Im curently doing some myself that were REALLY badly kerbed and peeling. I have not gone for ultimate mirror finish as I will be spraying them with 2K Laquer, so not neccessary. Final shine comes in the laquer.

Here is a pic. Probably 2 hours work here .

Cost ?? mabe £2 per wheel in materials.

I may undo the centres and change the colour as the gold wont be ideal with my new paint scheme, will it???

Go on, rub it in  lol

At the end of the day they don't make these wheels any more and no-one else in the uk has them especially on a zed so i think they'll be worth the 400 including the tyres :D

Plus i charge 40 an hour so me working on them a whole day on them would cost me 320 quid so might as well pay some guy 160 quid to ge them done properly.

For the centres i'd go for the darker colour we discussed when i was round yours, would really suit the "painting style" you're thinking of adopting (without giving too much away) ;)

I was going to go for black centres then do a two tone but i think i've had an apiphony but keeping schtum till i get a photoshop done :D

Completely polished rim and centre will look awesome, just wait and see :D

the only thing Im rubbing in is a bit of G3 to clean the wheels priior to laquering!!!

Not doing down your efforts etc either.

I just put up my pic and post to show that you can do wheels yourself and very cheaply. Granted it is a filthy tedious job and I dont blame anyone for paying to have it done.

they dont make those Taneisha wheels Im doing either and Im in no doubt at all that they too will be worth £400 with tyres when Im done. Like yours tho they wont be for sale so it doesnt really matter what they are worth does it.

Its alright matey i know you're not rubbing it in :D You know my agenda is to create something unique with my car so starting off with the only set of these on a zed in a finish that isn't how they came from the factory is a start :D

Yours will be stunning when it's finished matey, looking forward to seeing how you progress over the summer

You also know i owe you an ivor gadiva which i'll bring tomorrow ;)

And just for good measure heres another set of wheels, this time polished by myself.

Very nice matey :D I would have done it myself but to be honest with working for myself i don't get a lot of free days at the moment, its all good because i make enough to pay someone else to do it for me but ideally i like doing it myself.

The interior will be 100% my own build though, i'm very determined to take a good couple of weeks off to sort it out too :D

Anyone know of a tvr tuscan being broken for parts? ;)

I really like the wheels pictured by both Suffolk and Pete, the 'Y shape spokes' design is what I particularly like, especially with them gold as on Pete's.

I nearly bought a set similar to them a couple of months ago. They were being sold on this site and I even drove up to the Midlands with the cash in my pocket to collect them, but the guy had fibbed about the tyres saying that they were a specific good make and in new condition. They turned out to be absolute crap and I drove home without them. Even now I wonder if I did the right thing as I have not seen similar for sale since at a sensible price. C'est la vive.
