Hi,

I have just removed all the old tweed in preperation to put charcoal grey suede and have noticed that all the panels are of a good quality plastic, i was wondering whether anyone has actually sprayed these instead of using a material and if so have they got a good finish ??

Thanks

James,

Wouldn't you then just have a 'sprayed plastic' interior rather than a nicely trimmed interior. I think it would look tacky (IMO of course).

I am .. still!, replacing my tweed with red vinyl. You strip of the tweed then use an adhesive remover to get the old glue gunk off. I got some precut vinyl pieces. Two problems i have is using a glue that takes several minutes to fix the vinyl, too fast is not good as i need to reposition the vinlyl piece. Also the adhesive needs to be spread evenly and not to thick so to avoid snot balls that show up under the vinyl. And getting vinyl around curves is tricky. On some parts of the door skin i found it impossible to get one whole piece wrapped around the skin without chopping some parts off to make acute bends and curves. So what i did is do the patchwork stuff out of visible areas, like where the door skin ventillation vent matches the vent on the dashboard. My job aint perfect but it looks fairly good

Has anyone had any corner pieces sewn from two pieces? This would be the logical answer. Just wondering if it has been done?

Scotty retrimmed his and then sprayed the vinyl I believe. Karl300zx had his retrimmed in leather and that has seams but bends around door panels. I retrimmed mine without seams, a hairdryer helps to warm and stretch vinyl. I would be prepared to sell my UK interior for exchange panels.
