The original stig was mostly "Perry McCarthy" , the 2nd stig is a combination of various different Racing drivers....but not Jason Plato. The Bonus of covering them up is that they can use any Drivers that available on the day.

I've done it a couple of times but my agents trying to steer me towards the RSC at the moment.

personally i thought it was michael schumacher from a few of the comments that they've made on top gear. really not sure tho.

how can it be different drivers there all the same build and hight, im not having every driver is the same build and hight...................anyway, the bloke who does the security for the site is a friend of a friend and he had to sign a secrets act he said, so im sure he knows, he did give my mate a clue and its apparently a touring driver. so take ur pic, i dont have a clue

cheers guys and there i was thinkin i had nailed it lol,oh well just shows how far off the mark u can be,but i do disagree its different drivers as he seems to look the same size wk in wk out,deff not damon hill cause he is tall and skinny,but on second thoughts i will stick with plato or jonny herbert :)

Andy Middlehurst has done it a few times in the first few series of top gear, and i can tell you that the stig is usually the same person but occasionally when he cant do it andy or someone else will do it. He is or was a BTCC driver though.

when black stig died did they change the driver?

I think they did as the original black stig had other commitments and didnt have the time to do it at all.

They changed him because he virtually revealed his identity. Cant remember who the first one was, but in his autobiography he hinted very very strongly that it was him.

 

I dont think it is Jason Plato. Doesnt he do stuff on 5th gear? I doubt any TV company will let a presenter work for a rival TV company let a lone a rival TV programme.

i deliver carlsberg to the pub next door to the track they use ( the sun inn) clarkson goes in there sometimes - wouldnt let us take the lorry round the track for tv ( boring)

and no he wouldnt tell us anything about the stig next time i will have to beat him with empty beer kegs untill he tells me lol
