ok so I'm probably being a complete tit or something, but when i got this pc... it came with a 3 month subscription to Symantec (as most do) ...

version on pc at the moment is 2004.... I've just gone out and got the 2007 version and wanna stick it on... however, it wont let me do it until i uninstall the other version i have.

So I've done the usual control panel, add and remove programmes... all it comes up with is live reg - which i cannot remove as it says another programme needs it ....

So i tried, start - programmes - home and security, and there is no uninstall option (like you would get on other applications)

so how the hell am i meant to uninstall it??

I'll probably kick myself in the arse when one of you clever chaps tell me..... but right now... im stumped!

Thanks

xx

First of all, I would see if you could take that norton back as its the biggest load of rubbish ever!!

Its the easiest antivirus to hack, heavy on the PC as in using loads or memory taking away speed for other programmes and is a nightmare to get rid of as you are finding.

If you like it and feel comfortable with it then use this...

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

Download this from norton themselves which deletes it all and then reinstall your new one from a fresh.

I use EZ antivirus and its great, quick updates, hardly uses any memory to run it and is rated very highly on infection catching.

I also now a bit of a trick with EZ that i can help you with and can send you a cd of mine as i have one thats great. Pm if you need any more info :)

Hi buddy

I had this problem and ended up removing most of it, but then had to take my box to PC world for them to strip out the rest with a master disc that they have.
