mgh297
which of the parts in the photo is the 'circlip', and is it vital to the installation of the shifter? The circlip is the little black circular thing with a gap in it and 2 little holes. You will have to pinch it together in order to put in place. I would say its vital. They usually are designed to keep something in that you dont want to come out. You might be able to get a replacement though, but ive no idea where you would find one. speedemon
I did not have one with my kit and mine is great?? where does it go??
Slick Pete.
I dont see one in my kit. there are loads on ebay at the moment for sale. As cheap as £20 too I think.
edk83
Great kit, it makes a massive difference to the feel of the car. That one is the same as mine as is very well made, good quality. The circlip sits the the groove which i have put an arrow to. It holds the inner gator is place. You could still fit the kit but you might be risking debris getting into the ball joint and making it feel rough. I got the circlip in my kit and the whole thing came from 800rwhp on ebay. It took me about an hour to fit and can be done all from the top, be ready for some swearing and bleeding knuckles tho :) Get on the email and get the seller to send you the circlip
rodders25
Are those cheap ebay kits any good? I thought about getting on myself...
how31l
fitted one to my Z ages ago, got kit off ebay easy to fit, i put the circlip on top of the top gaitor as it holds it down and shows more of the polished shaft.
Daves_Zed
You can always tell an I.T. Tech as opposed to an Engineering Tech ;)  BTW, mine dosen't have one of them, but then I don't need a short shifter!! :D
EvoluZion3
well the kit came through today - looks like a solid bit of gear. the seller says that this particular kit does not require the circlip, so we'll wait and see what the expert says ;)
edk83
What you saying Dave?! Out of interest which ebay seller did you get it from?

mantav8
Could help you Dave,if I know what size the circlip is?-let me know if you do need it!
EvoluZion3
What you saying Dave?! btw i wasnt talking about you mate. ive got a big wodge of stuff to be installed - the shifter being one of them. thanks for the offer Darren - im trying to find the back end of Mickeys work queue so i'll see what he says about it. i'll give you a shout mate if i do need it. Tony they are shorter gear levers so they 'reduce throw by up to 40%' i think they all advertise. i think the bushing is worn out on my current lever and its a real bugger to get into first sometimes so hopefully this'll fix it too.
