Hi everyone.

Im new to this site but have owned my 300zx for over a year now, i have done loads to it, the main thing being a full engine change after a so called specialist made a complete arse of skimming the heads, (court case pending).

A fault i had was when i dip the clutch the engine stalls, i thought when i changed the whole engine this would solve it, but alas it has not, any one out there had this problem before?

any help would be muchly appreciated. :headvswal

Thanks.

What mods have you done

Air filter, improved turbo's (360 thrust bearings) stainless exhaust, 50% bigger intercoolers, other things to but nothing to do with the engine, wheels body kit etc.

i heard something about a fuel ecu and an engine ecu, it drives smoothly until i dip the clutch, then the revs slowly to zero.

Thanks.

did you use the original idle speed adjuster? if so it may need cleaning or replacing.

I never replaced it, so what ever came with the engine i suppose, thing is it was the same on both engines? unless its seperate from the engine, i.e. would not be changed with the engine. where might i find it?

Thanks

looking at the engine from the front. ita at the back right side. there are two connectors going to it.. a black pipe leads from the right hand side of the plenum to it also.

did you buy a complete engine with accileries then?

also check the tps (throttle position sensor) its attached to the right throttle body. search for the required voltage readings. iirc at close it should be between 0.45-0.50 volts.

all the ancilleries where already on the exchanged engine yes, except i changed the turbos and intercoolers and air filter for my new ones, the engine wiring was also changed, thanks for the photo, ill try it tomorrow.

Thanks

I have a spare IAAV if you need it, I changed mine in the hope of solving an irratic idle problem (turned out to be the temp sensor). You can have it for free as a goodwill gesture as long as you intend to subscribe here :)

I can tell you that its a real pig to change though!

Thanks Gaijin ill check it first before i take you up on your offer, is it the same thing as Hellraiser told me about, top right corner of ther engine bay, as in the picture?

Thanks.

yes exactly the same .

If you are sitting stationary in neutral what revs does the engine tick over at?? Once its fully warm.

Now when you depress the clutch fully does it then stall???

No, not when im standing still, only after i have done some driving, it will cut out during a slow gear change, or dipping the clutch coming to lights or junction etc. its very frustrating as i have spent so much on the car for it to do this.

oh and the engine ticks over at about 800 or so, normal revs anyway, and sounds so damn good.

hey Gaijin can i take you up on that idle valve if the offer is still open.

Thanks.
