ok, I may very soon be getting my car sprayed. now I need to decide on the colour.

I want either candy apple blue or red.

jason farrows colour blue is the type I want. does anyone know exactly where I would get the paint and exactly what I would need to ask for, so is there a specific paint number or anything???

the red I like is on 1 members car, its a wide arch kit and some clear rear lights but can't remember who's it is, again where can I get itand what exactly do I ask for?!?

thanks guys

Go for something totally origional but if you want a candy/mica/pearlescent colour make sure you get a good bodyshop to do the work.

My advice would be to go around a few bodyshops, look at their work, attitude, even how professional/clean the workshop floor looks and choose one you happy with, they can then help you in finding the colour you want, this is one times when its true that you get what you pay for, take a read through vijays bare metal respray thread for an idea of what the wrong bodyshop will give back to you, it make look shiney the day you collect the car but you want it to stay that way.

Vijay

its a shame your so far away i could recommended a place near me that does alot of show/class cars

You can try looking through this link click me

there are millions of colours to choose from, first step is to choose which basic colour you want, ie black red blue green etc, then decide on shade, mica, pearl, candy. Bodyshops will have loads of colour chips and suggestions, as a starter TVR use some very nice colours, try looking through their colour chips at a local motor factors for insperation.

Its absolutley essential to choose the correct bodyshop. and one where they have examples of Candy bodywork to show you.

And if you think you have already spent a lot of money on your car you will soon find out you need to spend the same again to get a true candy done properly.

I know, I am going down that route soon, but only half in candy due to the huge cost involved.

Ask Luke at Z Centre how much his man Frank would be to do the work. Im guessing over £4000.

Candies are great colours but blue and red have been done a lot. I'm in the same boat at the moment as I'm having a full bare metal respray after the custom work is finished in the New Year. Personally I'm leaning towards a black base followed by many layers of very dark red/purple candy to achieve a finish that has a lot of depth.

Speak to Steve at Bodywork Plus (his number is on here in the Traders section). Not only does he use the cutting edge American ALSA paints, but he can also get hold of any colour in the TVR or Lamborghini range which may change your mind re colour choices. Plus he and his team have just moved into a huge new, fully equipped, hi-tech premises, possibly one of the biggest in the UK, located just off the M5 near Junction 2.

HTH,

PMSL!-he looks like your son Pete!

Always liked the PS of mine in red TBH!

You gotta feel sorry for the poor girl eyeing up a beautiful modded pickup in purple to find that wrinkly old thing hiding behind the tinted windows lol

I would like to echo the sentiment by leigh.. although my original bodywork wasnt done by bodywork plus i found steve to be most professional and the most helpful person i have ever met. if you need work done then contact him and you wont go wrong.

regards,

alex
