just moved to pipex - what a mistake :(

only been with them one day and leaving already after they lied about throttling p2p.

d/l speeds have gone from over 200K (with bulldog) down to 20K with Pipex.

Pipex MAX 8MB - What a joke!!!

my 2MB Bulldog connection was faster and uncapped.

just tried downloading a game update too - capped again!!! :( Its taken me about 20 mins to d/l an update that should have taken me 15 seconds.

Anyone recommend an ISP that does not throttle or traffic shape?

Orange are pretty good when working LOL, they disconnected me by mistake and have still not been reconnected. Also I have heard TalkTalk are OK but were shit when I tried them so it's really a bit of a gamble and what others recommend

Been on tiscali for a long time.

£12.99 a month for 2meg I think and 30 gig download limit.

Have never ever got anywhere near that even at the start despite downloading loads of music.

Have been fleeced by talktalk despite never even signing up with them.

Some how they managed to set up a direct debit without me knowing.

Sposed to be sending me a cheque.

Not holding my breath.

Jay, if you were with Pipex Homecall then your broadband would have actually been supplied by Tiscalli. I couldn't agree more though, they're a bit of a joke! :(

I can add to the bit about TalkTalk:

- No sign of any traffic shaping (i.e no throttling of p2p etc)

- MAX connection is good (I get 6.5Mb /Sec usually)

- Very cheap when bundled with a phone line - (although similar price to Orange, Pipex etc)

However, the very large downsides are the frequent disconnects, the occasional but very annoying down times, and exceptionally bad customer service!

My perception is, if you're not too worried about price then stick to a reliable brand of broadband. If on the other hand you're out to save a few extra pennies like I was, then I think we're going to get a Tesco's "value" service, especially on the off-shored customer service front. However, I hope that things will get better in the long run as competition hots up.

cheers, I average downloading about 150Gb a month, all legal err game updates of course.

Now I dont think I 'll get anywhere near that - pipex fekkin lied to me now I signed up and cant go back to bulldog!

Cheers clarkey, will have a look

Why would you join Pipex with The Hoff in their adverts, lol.

Im with Plusnet and had no problems. I think they do slow down d/loads of crap to allow for people to use email and browse, but I have no limit.

Eclipse is suppose to be good too.

HERES a link to a adsl guide site.

Sky Broadband is still through a phone line, if that's what you mean. I think it's sort of ADSL+. 8mb at the moment, but 16mb unlimited for £10 a month is coming soon next year.
