Billynomates talks sense (see above). The best are panasonic, what i have or pioneer. As he say's don't listen to the bullshit go see for yourself. :)

42" Hd ready Panasonic plasmas advertised in paper today, £899 - Curry / Comet?

they are a cracking deal m8, a week ago they were over £1200 AND they have 2 hdmi inputs, so brilliant for 360/sky hd etc

OK, i`m gonna go and get one of these now, just a quick question if anyone knows, do you need to convert the scart output from the 360 to a HDMI input to the TV??

The plasma i have at the mo is mounted on the wall with all the wires hidden in the cavity, i can get at them easy enough just need to know if i need more cables etc??

The 360 has 5 composite connectors as standard when you buy it, left and right audio then the three video leads that go straight into the tv. All HDTVs should have composite in.

*EDIT* just thought i bought the platinum pack so i got the high def lead as standard. It depends what pack you bought your 360 with?

You need the high def cable with the 5 composite connectors

as Bantambunny says m8

the hd lead only comes with the prem' version of the 360, if you look on the input to the 360 IF it's a hd lead it will have a switch hd/tv

and you don't need the hdmi socket on the telly, as it goes via the component leads. if you don't have the lead it's about £15 downwards, it DOES make a hell of a difference via a hd tv

so the lead your after has the 5 plugs green, blue, red and two audios red and white (ignore the yellow as its not needed if going hd)

Well i went to Richer Sounds today as i know one of the guys in there, they didn`t have any in stock but sugested this one http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=HITA-42PD9700

Has a better contrast ratio, higher resolution screen, 2 hdmi, 3 scart and a card reader for me mucky camera pics!! Is a bit dearer but said it was better value.

Any comments??

Cheers

Bob

Got it on the friday, worth every single penny :D

They gave me the wrong one, the model above with the piano black face and built in subs :D

Because it's a re-conned set it's absolutely spot on, undortunately the bulb went, luckily the year's warranty covers it so i've contacted them this morning and they're organising a swap for me for another set.

Bit annoying as i just wanted the bulb replacing rather than carting a 45 inch tv to brum and back, oh well just hope they don't realise they gave me the wrong one :D

as billynomates said, plasma's are the way to go, but you have to get a decent one i've had my pioneer 1 year now and the pictute quality takes some beating, but you get what you pay for,im only gutted now cos there nearly half the cost now, ,,lol but they come in to their own with hd

richard

LCD is the only way to go, company's are not really developing Plasma any more cos they know LCD is the way forward.

As for rear projection, nice for a big TV in a pub, i'd throw it in the skip rather than use it at home myself.

Each to their own though.

Have you seen how thin mine is for a 45 inch?

it's only the depth of an xbox 360 from front to back. Although some of the others i saw in the shop were heeeeuge :D

Will be when they issue the repair for me, they want me to take it back to brum to swap. Just hope they don't realise it's the higher spec model....

Its the picture not the size im talking about ;)

The only thing bad with a RP is the viewing angle, the picture on this sagem is better than about 90% of the tft's i looked at. Almost as good as the LG TFT sets IMHO

I was looking at LG TFTs before i bought it and running on 720p the picture is stunning, the upscalar and DLP chips do a great job.

Now all i need is Sky HD although standard digibox scales up fine

Just proved my argument for me. Its only my opinion but I wouldn't be happy with a telly I could tell my mates was amost as good as others I could have bought.
