Plasma all the way....

(merry christmas)

as you are using it for a Pc get a LCD, its easier to get one that supports a real wide screen resolution for your PC inputs,

Plasma are shite, sorry Hunniepie, the best picture you will get is on a CRT but as nobody wants them anymore that out of the equation.

After CRT is rear projection, not the type you think of firstly, you know the square ones that are blocky, dull and you can't watch at an angle but the newer ones. I have a 42" widescreen one of about 4 1/2 years old and the pic is great at almost any angles. The best ones are DLP then LCD.

After that its LCD, like your pc screen type, nice and thin and light and they look good and if you get a good one the colours are great and sharp.

Then bottom of the pile are the plasma screens, they look good and have artificial colours but are heavy and the screens burn, not worth the money or hassle.

Look on the which website and read all about them.

it looks absolutley awsome, would this one be ok for my pc?

my tv its a crt one has an unusual blue tint in it so im sure it will be dead sometime in the new year!!

so looks like DLP is better then plazma & LCD

what about the life of the DLP i have heard of screen burn in these im sure the new ones are quite good though.

I own a computer tv store in surrey http://www.comzign.com if you want you can talk to carmine who is a tv specialist and works with me. Anyway just to let you know stay away from plasma they have a short life span go for lcd a bit more expensive but much better. Drop me a pm if you need any more advice.

Regards

Ali

agree with scrawni here.

plasma are rubbish!

sorry, have to disagree with ya there. Pioneer plamsa's, the way to go and that burn crap, sorry, but all displays are susceptable to this at some point..all blown out of context really, have my 360 on mine and my hd dvd player and look pretty good to me and by the way, I sell these things all day long...

You can not get screen burn with a DLP.I have been watching my 56" DLP HD now for about a year and the picture is awsome  coupled with my Sky HD and 7.1 surround sound takes some beating. After around 6 to 8 years viewing the main bulb unit will degrade,so pop in a replacement and your back to as new viewing.

Sitting watching an LG 44" DLP right now. Pretty good, only downside is the viewing angle is a bit limited and the screen isn't as bright as you'd hope.

I've just bought this:

For £479 quid! Saw it on display in the shops a while ago and meant to buy it and just as i got the money they stopped selling it

This is half the price and should be picking it up in a couple of days from birmingham, can't wait! :hyper: HD 360 here i come :D

I have a samsung 32" TFT HD TV and its perfect. No bad solid shadows that you get with these LCD and less than half the price of a plasma. My son plays the X Box 360 on it and has played on Plasma and says the TFT is just as good.

My front room aint big enough for a BIG " screen anyway.

I bought a 42" plasma a couple of months ago and absolutely love it. I read plenty of reviews and decided on the Panasonic :)

Vijay

We have an LCD and its great but then I havent really got a clue on the statistics so thats probably not that helpful

That mate looks the dogs and it has a pc input

Had a quick read on this and not only does it have all these lovely connections it also does vga on the side as an extra port so i can have the 360 connected via vga rather than composite so i can match the resolution to the tv, it's going to look stunning!

Also just noticed it does Picture In Picture:

Wise choice Nick, got the Sagem 56" myself Luv It

Can't wait now, i've seen it running in the shop and couldn't get over just how thin it was for a RP tv and it's got DLP so the black's are absolutely spot on and the picture was stunning to say the least. The 50" version was 20 quid more but i've heard the picture isn't as good so opted for this one.

I can't remember seeing the 56" version, it might have been the one on the very top shelf (always stupid when they do that because you can't see the screen on a rp outside of the viewing range)

i suggest you go look at them in PERSON m8

and take no notice of people that say life span of plasmas is short,

they reckon 30k to 60k hours depending on make etc, that equates to 6 hours per day and could work out at 20 years 12 hours 10 years etc, are you planning on keeping a telly 10 years?

we have 4 plasmas, i keep upgrading and move them into different rooms, we have 2 panosonic 42" hd tvs one in the bedroom and one in the living room, my son has a normal panosonic in his bedroom, and we have just put a 42" plasma in the room i did out for the grandaughter when she comes to stay,

burn in on plasmas also absolute rubbish unless you have a OLD cheap one,

if your going for plasma you HAVE to stick to panosonic/pioneers etc, and any of those WILL blow any other telly out of the water, but if you havn't got sky hd, 360 etc? then maybe you wont need THE BEST,

i'm not playing the my dick is bigger than your game, but i have looked at ALL the alternatives and telly wise i only buy the best available, and after 5-6 years of plasmas i havn't seen/found anything better and WHEN a better picture on something appears i WILL buy it, i LIKE toys but can't see the point in going half measures

my lad has had a 360 for a year, ive just got the ps3 for him, he has sky in his room, so a bit pointless him not having the equipment to watch it on, as i said i suggest you go in and check the alternatives yourself, don't view what THEY want you to watch, sit down in front of it, move around and check all the viewing angles (standing and sitting) and if you decide a £500 does what you want it to do then go for it, and ignore all the MYTHS about burn/lifespan etc i could buy 2 zx's for what i paid for my first plasma, now a good one is a set of wheels and tyres lol,

t'vs are like tyres and cameras m8, ask an opinion and whatever people have is the best, but if you really want THE BEST lol......................................

Make sure you see what they look like with a proper HDTV signal going through them, alot of the shops just use a crap standard def signal and you won't get the full effect till you see it properly.

I was lucky that i saw mine in the flesh running terminator 2 HD so i know what i'm getting.

Do as billy says and get down the shop and pester them till they show you

I have a 20 yeard old Sony Trinitron. And it's still absolutely superb. Make of that what you will. I don't know about this Ell Csaaaaayyyy Daaayyyy nonsense.
