Hi all,

I desparately need to make a backup of certain documents from my PC (as it has had several viruses on it over the past few weeks). I can easily make backups of everything I need EXCEPT my MS Outlook and MS Outlook Express mail files. Does anyone know where on the HDD these are saved to? I have a PC with a standard Win98 install, i.e., no fancy installation tricks or custom install jobs. Looked everywhere, left no directory unscanned, but can't find my mail!

Any help & suggestions are much appreciated.

Outlook uses a .pst file, do a file search and backup.

Both programs have an Export option on the File Menu.

Export all your mail/calendar/contacts etc folders to a .pst file and then re-import them to your new system if thats what you are doing.

Martin, Chris - thanks very much fellas! I think I'm sorted now smile.gif Just one last question ... when exporting to a .pst file from the "file" menu, does this include my inbox, sent items, contacts and calendar info all in one file? If it is, then that would explain why my .pst file is about 250Mb! (Must do some sorting and deleting of old e-mail!)

Thanks again!

Danny

Hi mate, when exporting select your mailbox and tick the include subfolders. This will include things tike calendar, contacts etc. smile.gif

Probably the biggest contribution to the file size will be attachments. You can sort by attachnments in your inbox and delete those not necessary.

Don't forget to delete from deleted folder or they will still be backup up.

Ask if you need anymore info.
