I am looking at a set of 18" rims. What size width is best and what size tyres go on these.

Depends how big you want to go really.

You can fit up to 18x8.5 front, 18x10" rears

That would be with something like 255's front, 285 rears.

I'm going with 235 fronts and 275 rears. Anything more than 235 would start to tramline in the gulleys in the road as a day to day car.

 

As chris c says they are MAXIMUM sizes you can fit

Nick you'll only get tramlining if youre suspension isnt set up right.. maybe different with the Zed but my supercharged situp n beg ford pop .. that run 11J x 16's 365 45 16 front and 19J x 16's rear 475 40 16 .. gotta admit it was a tad bouncy but no tramlining .. that tend to happen if you have worn steering rack bushes / worn ball joints and incorrect camber/ caster .. the zed is one of those cars that needs to be set up near perfect .. just my oppinion though bud

275's = 35 profile & 235's = 40 profile

You need 235/40-18 fronts and 265/35-18 rears, and as already said 8.5 fronts and 10" rears is the very best combo. those sizes will be expensive, but the best always is.

many peeps go for a cheaper /smaller compromise. 8"s /9"s.
