For £7500 I think you could get plenty more than that.

what sort of figures would you say off hand buddy?

what sort of figures would you say off hand buddy?

I'd guess 450bhp? Turbos, injectors, filter, chip, exhaust, radiator, clutch? I really don't know to be honest.

You'll need decent brakes and suspension obviously if you're going for med/high power.

oh yeah man that would be a must anyways i always do brakes even on the runnaround aswell just to be safe as i like to be able to stop quick lol

the 350-400bhp* is obtainable easily and relatively cheaply - Exhaust (£400), Induction (£100), Chip(£100), 1bar boost(50p - £300).

After that it gets expensive. Bigger injectors (£600), Bigger intercoolers(£750), Bigger turbos(£1500-£3000) and you could be looking at anything from 450bhp-600bhp* ...... but to play it safe then you'll really want Forged pistons (£400-£1000 + £750-£1000 labour to fit), Bigger Radiator (£300) and if engine is being stripped then be a good idea to get some headwork done (£300-£500), and some cams to match the bigger turbos (£500-£1000). Should also allow funds for Uprated clutch (£300-£600) and set of boost, water & oil temp gauges (£100-£300)

....you cant forget bigger brakes (£500-£1500) and suspension either (£500-£2000)

* flywheel power

thats not a problem at all i will make my own engine components but will just need specs if anyone has them it would be much apreciated

also i will do all engine work myself aswell so that will cut alot of the costs down if i do actually mod it that is lol just having a think on the subject at the mo

oh yeah thanks for that buddy

i have had my zed for about 3 months and love everyday in it im just about to get boost jets induction kit exhaust and a remapped ecu which will make the car plenty quick enough!!

nice i have a tendency to get bored with power as such but im sure i will be satified for a while it runs in my family that does as my brother held the top speed record for a cosworth for ages at one point aswell but that was along time ago when it was just 188mph

il be honest iv always been a ford man but i want to try something diferent

a zed is a quick car but like everything once youve had it a while it seems far slower i had a little race against a civic type r and went upto 80mph and pulled a huge gap so he gave up and have been against an rs4 audi which was mighty close considering my car is standard at the moment i was mightly impressed!!

ah right matey not slow then at all hmmm

You'll be pleased to know then that the 300zx holds the highest land speed record for a tuned rwd production car at 262mph, by JUN in 1993

ah cool so im going down the right road then lol

is there anyone near coventry that could praps take me for a spin in one? so i can see what they are like if possible

Probably not the best time of the year to show you exactly what one can do to be honest. I can't get full boost down on the roads while it's this cold/wet.

Mind you i'm sure there's guys with wider tyres and bigger balls out there who could :D

i know what you mean matey love rwd's but but they aint the best this time of year for traction

NA 222bhp TT 280-300bhp

Manufacturer figures when new....

NA...

222bhp US spec lhd

230bhp Jap spec rhd

TT...

263bhp UK spec auto

276 bhp UK spec manual

280bhp Euro spec manual

280bhp Jap spec man/auto

300bhp US spec lhd

Especially mine being an auto :D A little hard to get going without spinning the bugger this time of the year although on santa pod i as getting 0.6, 0.5, 0.3 reaction times :D

Are the NA stats for manual as well as auto?

i think im definetly going to be looking for one in the new year now not bothered if its the na or tt as il build it to my specifications anyways i think after a while anyways lol

Yes JDM NA manual and auto the same 230bhp, unless you've got an American left hand drive import 222bhp model...TT manual and auto different due to different turbos etc.

US turbo quoted as 300bhp, but probably 280bhp same as Japan...UK TT less, perhaps because of lower octane fuel?

So many variations! At least they didn't get silly names like 'normal' cars.

Imagine the 300zx 'sprite' or 300zx 'zest'

yeah i know its stupid aint it
