Has anyone got any recomendations on the pro's and con's of removing the standard fan and shroud and replacing it with an electric one.

What size of fan and any preffered makes?

Cheers

Andy

My mates how own drift cars s13 /s14 and get reved alot and dont get much forward air flow have used electric fans on their rads 2 of on some cars and they have had cooling problems high water temp readings .They have all gone back to the viscous fan as well as the electric fans with no problems im not saying this is the same with the vg engine but i think the viscous is there for a reason ,nissan could have put twin electric fans as factory it not like they wernt about then but they choose not to.

What fans were they using though. Something off a 1600 cc engine ? It's a bit like saying that my pistons melted because I used Champion spark plugs. Sure, if they're not the right one for the motor you will have problems.

There is a heap of different units and if you fit the wrong one you will have problems. Many electric fans do not have shrouds which is a very important part of the operation to achieve maximum cooling.

Am trying to get hold of Ash will let you know when/if I've had some success :)

hi mark so what do you want for your fans? mine might be going as it makes a jet sound when it starts up and when reved.

Hi Andy

Like I keep saying best doing a few searches and make your own mind up.

I think what many are saying here is true for the old fashioned kenlow type fans, but the modern Fans and especially the race developed replacement fans like the Pacet are truely awesome.

I used to have a kenlow on my Range Rover about 8 years back. It did its job but it was feeble. The Pacet fans would suck your hand through the rad it you were daft enough to try it and a Viscus wouldn't even pull your hand close enough to the rad to mark it.

I've said enough I'm only trying to help but some people want to stick to tried and tested.

P.S

For all you Viscus Fan fans I have 2 for sale. My original which I removed thinking it must be knackered (cos car was getting too hot and needed the auxiary fan hot wiring to help) and the Brand new OEM one I replaced it. Only to discover that it was just the same.

Before anyone suggests it might have been a rad problem I suggest they read my specs.
