Smoking is not the only cause of cancer , heart disease etc. , nor is drinking . On the other hand , being a non-smoker , or non-drinker is definitely a major factor in the developement of holier-than-thouness , pomposity and preachiness . Give over , you prigs . I plan to give up smoking ( a long-term project , and ongoing ) , and maybe even drinking :rolleyes: , but I hope I never join in with that kind of prissy judgementalism . Don`t you think we all get told what to do , and not do , enough already ?

I don't see what's wrong with having smoking pubs and non-smoking pubs, to be honest. Then if you want to go out to the pub and smoke or are with people who want to smoke, you can do. If you don't want to smoke and are worried about the health effects/smell, you can go to a non-smoking pub. Simple, isn't it?

 

One thing you can be sure of is that even if there were 9 non-smoking pubs and only 1 smoking pub in a town, you'd still get a lot of non-smokers whinging about how unfair it is that they can't go into that 1 pub due to all the 'anti-social' smokers... :rolleyes:

I only smoke when I drink , mind . Got it down to about six or seven nights a week now . :tongue:
