What he says makes for a much nicer and healther place of work for those who work in the industry. It also makes for a much nicer night out so you don't come home stinking, with a sore throat and suffering from passive smoking. It's a dirty habit and unhealty habit costing the HNS millions. Bring on the ban.

I'd never agree to an outright ban, but believe a ban in enclosed public areas can only be of benefit. I don't want a complete ban on smoking because the sale of tobacco earns the exchequer millions of pounds in revenue through its high taxation. I'm more than happy for people to carry on paying to kill themselves if it saves some money from my wage packet.

I dont think its unfair to ban it.

I think its unfair when you have to breathe in all that sh1tty smoke without wanting too!!!

I agree with that too to an extent. Which is generally why I find the social scene in the UK as crap and cultureless. It's all about seeing how wasted you can get.

Go over to parts of mainland Europe and even parts of the states and it's such a different atmosphere, everything’s more relaxed, it’s not about drinking as much as you possibly can. As soon as you step onto UK soil all you see at nights are uncontrollable piss heads stumbling around, throwing up, causing a mess.

I know that's generalising a bit, but the whole ethos of socialising and binge drinking culture over here is pretty gross.

You are so right about the binge drinking it makes me sick I hate it.

dont drink so fast then lol

i dont smoke but i do drink, i think banning smoking in pubs is a bad idea, doing it in places like hospitals cafe's librarys and so on is a good idea, but for all you's moaning fookers that dont like how england is and the way it has become why dont you's all fok off to a little island somewhere and make up your own fookin rules

i say if you dont like smoiking in pubs, dont go to pubs, if you dont like drinking in city centres, dont go to to city centres so on and so on

the goverment will do what they like, no amount of pertitions and arguments will ever decide what they do (it didnt stop them in ireland), so next time there is a gbeneral election make your vote really count ffs

There's always a flip side. If you like to smoke, then you don't have to go to a pub....? Think about all the non-smokers that have had to put up with it?

I'm not having a go, but there's always 2 sides to the argument. :)

could the smoke banning club please read this small note

finger.jpg

people do what they want to do but if somethings harmful and more importantly harmful to me, my kid etc then i dont want it around me so in public places yes ban it, in your own home then you do what you want to do :)

Keep it banned  What right do smokers have to put other peoples health at risk just because they want to kill themselves :nono:

If you want to kill yourself don't do it slowly with smoking, go and do it expedentially and jump off a cliff or something but don't try and take every one with you with your passive smoke in public places.

FFS! Breathing the crap that's in the air in any large city for just one day is 100s of times worse than any "passive smoking" you'd encounter in a pub of an evening. I can understand people choosing to want to not be near smokers - fair enough - but insisting that ALL pubs MUST BE smoke-free just in case they might, maybe, possibly consider one day dropping in for 5 mins, when there is a totally non-smoking pub up the road that they could use instead, is only one step away from fascism.

Why should like-minded, informed adults who want to smoke in a pub together be told they can't by people who don't want to join them anyway? Is it just that they can't bear the thought that someone else is having a good time without them?

ban the smokers from the forum to

One word for you and your kind..........COOOOOOOOOOONTS .Ban fooking bonfire night, why are there celebrations for a terrorist act? Theres more smoke goes up in the air on bonfire night than can ever be attributed to cigarettes. You've turned pubs into cafes where the bloke who likes a pint feels secondary,to the fat twats who cant keep stuffin themselves because they can either not cook or are to fookin idle too.Why should smokers be made to feel like leppers and second rate citizens. If you dont like going in a pub because of smoke go out side and drink and have your dinner, see how nice that makes you feel.Ban all religon, mobile phones in public.Coronation St and christmas.

Fortunately, people don't tend to light bonfires in enclosed spaces.

That's actually incorrect.

As a compromise why don't all pubs supply free nicotene patches and inject carcinogenic chemicals into the arms of smokers and their children on the way in :o

Maybe they'd think twice about the reasons then?

Ban it!

Why should smokers be made to feel like leppers and second rate citizens.

Because they are
