ADVICE ON DECENT BRAKE PADS

Featured Replies

Jaylox you only get what you pay for,I can get Blueprint pads for a Z for £20,But I will never ever fit anything else but the carbon kevlar ones that SE do for £130,These pads kick arse wink.gif.

I got some Helex i think it was. They are for my car, only cost £22 but they are miles better than the ones that where on it, Nissan ones. However, I dont know how long they will last. Went to the lakes a few days after I installed them. 300 miles late my front alloys where black.

I've fitted EBC greenstuff 150 miles ago. Seem to be better than stock for feel/power. Brake dust is not reduced though.......

I bought them for £62.

Many regards

Robert.

are the se pads really that good.was thinking about buying those but was put off with the price , I'd not seen anyone mention them on here so i didnt bother.thanks Mac1

IVE TRIED A FEW PADS SO FAR AND NOT SEEN MUCH DIFFERENCE IN ANY OF EM

the pads that se use are porterfield pads www.porterfield-brakes.com i think, in the US.

you can import them yourself, but they cost about the same....

i went through a couple of sets before, and found them very good, but expensive.

have green stuff at the moment and have had no trouble with them, less dust too

i only changed to green stuff as i needed some new pads in a hurry, somewhere in between a track day and MOT, the carbon kevlar must have fallen off biggrin.gif

the porterfield were very very good, and i would probably have put them back on but for timescale...

although, greens are a good compromise biggrin.gif

£130 for a set of pads, surely after a few sets it would be just as economical to upgrade to R33 brakes!

Ian have you put the r34 calipers on yet?

Because until you do that its no competition really. Stock caliper is no where near as good as R33 one.

ROFL biggrin.gifMuffman before mouth engages make sure brain is switched on,I paid more for my discs, than you paid for your whole second hand brake set up,thats because the discs I have are not for a road car tongue.gif, but are REAL COMPETITION DISCS ,R33 well bud I got R34 the latest and greatest tongue.gif

But the question Ian is, do you have the r34 calipers on your car now as we talk? cause if you dont then no way does your system piss on an r33's

Just for the record I believe R33GTR was the largest brake kit Nissan have yet put on any of their cars.(im not 100% sure though)

Warren YES THEY ARE FITTED,I will post pics up to show what had to be done to make the R34 caliper fit the Z,I think I am the first to do this biggrin.gif, the only bad thing is the pads cost me £180 now frown.gif, not £130 as before.

Having spoken and seen mr Ian's discs and calipers now working ect, i have to bow down to him. biggrin.gif They are wicked.

Thas a nice bit of kit dude.

Dun about 12k on these pads from SE, very pleased with the stopping power, espicially from 100 plus speeds. The pads are made by Porterfield in the US. So you may be able to find another source.

Gets the Eddie thumbs up until I find something better.
