I'm trying to burn video files to DVD using NERO,problem is when I start I get the message 'hardware acceleration turned off'-what the fook is that about??

Really doing my box in!-only want to make a DVD

Hardware acceleration is generally when you have an additional graphics card which has more advanced dedicated graphics hardware used for rendering the pictures on the screen. All very usefull when making DVD's. Software acceleration is done when the computer has to do all this rendering in memory and it is managed by the operating system (not very good).

It looks lile you should have a utility for your graphics card in your program list or in your control panel which will allow you to enable Hardware acceleration.

If you can't find it, or there isn't one - let me know what version of Nero, windows and what graphics card you are using and, and I will see if I can find any clues.

Cheers dude!-I'm on XP but don't think I have a graphics card??

unless there is already one with the system!

When I go into device Manager, there is a yellow ? with an exclamation mark, next to this is Video Controller(VGA compatible)-the thing is the manufacturer is unknowed and there isn't a driver installed!

Please help Mr thicky!! :smash:

ok do this.

start/all programs/windows update. its at the top of the screen run that and it should find the driver for you, otherwise open the side of your pc up and look on the motherboard for model number and make, then goto the manufacturers site enter the model number in the search and then download the drivers package inc the vga drivers.

or you could see if you have got the motherboard driver cd in your bits and pieces.

I've got Nero and I've turned down my graphics acceleration so I get that message too - you should be able to just continue past it like I do and make the dvd anyway.....you shouldnt notice any problems at all. Mine works fine and I've created loads of dvd's.
