Aside from all the controversy regarding British Airways (supposedly one of the most respected, reliable airlines in the world) suspending a member of staff for wearing jewellery, I give you another reason not to fly with this piece-of-shit company.
Six friends and I booked two flights with them a couple of months ago, based on their reputation and claims about being one of the best airlines you can fly with.
We were going to Riga for 5 days in next April to celebrate my birthday and just generally get away from England. Today I received an e-mail from the company informing me "with regret" that my flights have been cancelled. No explanation. Just that I had the option of re-booking or cancelling. How kind of them.
So I called, hopeful that I may be able to change for a similar flight that day, and that I might also find out why my flights were cancelled. Well, I got one out of two. Apparently B.A have decided to stop flying to Riga, so no, we won't be able to reschedule.
I asked about compensation, since my hotel will be charging me for the date-change. No, B.A don't offer compensation in any form. It's funny, since their terms state that were I to cancel, they would retain some of the fare that I had paid.
We are now looking at having to spend double what we would have, since the flight prices with other carriers have now increased hugely.
Pass this on, please, and let others know what they could be getting themselves into! British Airways will cancel your flights and not compensate you at all!
