geeky_hawkes Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 "In reply to our recent telephone conversation I enclose examples of similar vehicles to my own from http://www.autotrader.co.uk. Of note, is the difficulty in obtaining a genuine UK model of the 300zx Twin Turbo in good condition with a full service history. As the innocent party in this accident I feel disappointed that the original valuation is in no way a fair reflection of the price I would have to pay to replace my car. I have also included a copy of some of the receipts for work recently completed on the car. I do have a complete history of the car (since new), but as I am sure you can imagine it is impractical to post you 15years of paperwork for services, MOTs etc. The sample I have sent includes only some of the higher value items that were replaced on the car over the past few years, again adding to the vehicles value /rare status. I would be grateful if when re-evaluating my vehicles value you take all these details in to account. I am not willing as the innocent party to find myself driving a sub-standard replacement car. I would also like to stress that I do not wish my vehicle to be disposed of, or salvaged in ANY way prior to conclusion of this matter between us. I look forward to receiving an updated valuation from you" From me to the insurance of the person that hit me. Anything else i should add? Quote

AlFo Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I dont see the point of them asking for the value of your car in the first place if they wont pay up when something happens. If you put in a high price then your insurance goes up so surely if you've kept the price updated and paid acordingly they should cough up straight away. Ridiculus sometimes. Quote
vijay Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Sorry but I think you're being to nice! You're asking them to reconsider their evaluation, I'd personally be telling them that you'll only accept what it's worth based on the evidence you've provided. Trust me, I know first hand how these insurance companies don't want to pay out, you have to dig your heels in mate :) Good luck Vijay Quote
icu812 Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Have you actually had a estimate fot the cost of repairing your ZX? The reason I ask is you can refuse to have the car writing off and demand that they repair your ZX, you were not at fault. Hopefully that will give them a shake up, remember the car's your property NOT theirs. I had a similar situation some years ago, and I was offered £300 for a car that could not be replaced for less than £1500. I did everything your doing, and got told by the insurance company " that seller's expect to take less than the asking price". If you have legal cover don't settle the claim quickly, keep fighting until you get a price your happy with, when the legal side kicks in to get you excess back, lay it on thick, out of pocket expenses for the time you have been without your car, agro because you haven't had you car, you get what I mean, anything to increase this side of your claim. Between the pay out for your ZX and any compensation pay out, you may get something close to the cost of replacing you ZX You could also try threating to sue to person responsible, get a solicitor. Your then you'll have the sod who wrecked your car chasing their insurance company to settle you claim. Unfortunatly these days insurance companies don't do what you pay them for and protect your property and interests. Wish you luck mate, but you might find you in for a long up hill battle. Quote

Guest lets drift Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Never suggest just tell them what you expect, come down hard and don't give in, in any way whatsoever. Don't let them remove the car to a second place without your permission either. Good luck Quote
CarlZ Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 good letter but means fook all to the insurance company, i done the exact thing wrote many letters and numurous phone calls sent dozens of equiverlant examples off to the insurance company, battled for over a year and still only got back half of what car was worth, your valuation of what the cars worth is nothing to what they are prepared to pay you, they ask how much your car is valued at when you insure it just so they can up the premium, knowing full well you wont get that back. Thieving fooking cnuts! Good luck anyway Quote
