Plenum water bypass

AIV (dont really need engine out, but its a junkable system)

Hicas ? (remove selenoid, piping)

I would also junk the old EFI loom, and replace with a new one while engine is out....or it WILL give you problems afterwards.

Water bypass on plenum i had overlooked. was toying with removing Hicas but undecided as yet. Engine loom covered just forgot 2 put it on list  Not 100% sure wot the AIV does yet.

Good input though, thanks

If I remember it right the AIV just dumps extra air into the exhaust system before or after the cats so that your emissions are lower. Other then that it's pretty usless anyway.

Thought that was wot the EGR (Ex Gas Recirc) did ? unless there r 2 systems trying to reduce ex emissions.

With both these systems removed does the Co2 not go out of limits for an MOT ?

the egr feeds exhaust gas back into the engine to aid combustion.as has already been said bin it whilst its out.total waste of time for the uk.

i wouldn't go for the electric fan, think Baz (Hexaking) did it and said the standard fan is better

Not sure on the EGR. I thought it was introduced to reduce unburnt hydrocarbons by recirculating them back through the intake mainly for the fussy californian polution laws, not as a combustion aid ?

Did Baz just replace the fan and keep the standard standard rad ? I'm replacing rad as well with a bigger all ally unit, the kit sold by Z1 in the states

All good info though

Cheers

trust me you can bin it anyway.many cars on here have had it removed with no ill effects.mine included.one more thing to go wrong as the valves can stick in the open position. ;)

Jimmer, wot did u use to blank off all the open EGR ports after removal ? Are there blanking plates available or did u make something up ?

you can just cut them back and weld up, undo the 22mm nut to manifold chop it close to the end and weld up and refit, remove egr unit at back and do the same with each feed to plenum cut back and weld up, if you cant weld etc, conceptz in the U.S do an EGR kit which is basically plates that cover up the unwanted holes etc
