Any have a good source for Z32 Crhome Plenums? Looking to do a little engine dress-up work over the winter months.

Thx...

Most people on here seem to get a spare one and hand polish it. Its a slow and boring job.

I don't know, has anyone else chromed theirs yet?

I'd like to go with Chrome if possible -- polished takes a bit more work to maintain....

Actually -no I don't have to pay that, cause I live in the states (yipee)...

I was trying to find another source that has a bit better version -- figured there might be a supplier in the UK or Europe?...

Chrome has a tendancey to flake off though as the plenum does get very hot.

No it doesnt. If its done properly then it can last forever.

Think of a Harley Davidson bikes. Most of the parts on the engine are chromed and if maintained correclty they look like new.

I know because i own one.

i looked into chroming my plemumn but after speaking to 7 chromers they all said mirror polish only!

the reason behind it is that its alloy! if you chrome steel itll last forever i.e harley

but alloy has a tendancy to peel when very hot! because there is all ways dirt that has ingressed into alloy that youll never get out!!!!

hope that helps!

OK - so if I were to go with polished, is there any good way to keep it looking nice without having to do a really good buffing every year? It has so many little hard to reach areas - would think this is the biggest problem?

Is it possible to polish it then give it a coat of clear lacquer to keep it shiny and easy to clean?

Yer cant beat giving your hard to reach area a good buffing :xxx: :) Chrome looks good but probly wont last as alloy is a bit porruse.

Nope as lacquer scratches or will yellow with heat and hard to get off again.Just polish it is all.

Polished is the way to go, i have just been down this track. If you take it to a good metal polisher they will be able to get it near mirror finish.

Chrome looks fantastic but 'MAY' flake off, i have been told this by every plating compay I went to.

Just make you give it a wipe over every now and again and if you want to be really fussy, go over it with a silver polish (for silverware), that will keep it looking its best.
