It's been about 4 years since I had a Z and it's time for another....there seems to be plenty of rubbish on the market and the finer cars are seeming to be SWBs but they scare me a bit....

What's the deal with parts? I guess most of the engine is identical but the car has to be a daily driver so I can't have it sat in the shop for weeks waiting for bits from Japan.

What are your experiences guys? I had a LWB auto TT before and loved it.....going for a manual this time, pref. S2, black, leather and with some of the mods I'd make already done - suspension, BOV, stainless twin pipes.

Do Series 2 cars exist in SWB ?

Appreicate any advice.......

From my experience most parts are plentifull in the UK as the worse zeds are being scraped and being crashed alas. Though SWB specific parts are rarer i think. And some SWB body parts are very hard to get hold of like the tailgate. I have used http://www.247spares.co.uk to get some bits and bobs for my zed.

The SWB is beleived to handle a bit better than a LWB. And more so with a slick top (no targa top). Slicktop SWB's are very sought after.

My 2p's worth :)

There is a m reg swb slicktop were i live so that must be a series 2 .

Ohhh.. careful - you will start an argument!

SWB - lighter, faster accelerating, rarer, more nimble.

LWB - more stable at speed, better parts availability, all motorport Z32s were LWB

Some people prefer one, some the other - it's down to the individual.

LWB - more stable at speed, so are SWB's prone to taking off with a sidewind?

Nothing much in it by the sounds of things....not paying extra for the priviledge of a slick top...I'd suggest a couple of strut braces would more than make up the difference.

So who's got a '96 SWB/LWB Manual Black/Navy Blue TT Targa, Leather, about 50k miles....that's not been fooked about with ??

Ohhh.. careful - you will start an argument!

SWB - lighter, faster accelerating, rarer, more nimble, better looking, cool, a real car etc.

LWB - gay, heavier, common, all LWB zeds are actually saloons, slower, common etc.

Some people prefer the LWB but they are wrong.

You're right Craig David, I have seen these sort of threads spiral out of control.

Let's hope that doesn't happen here!

PMSL, I couldn't help myself!
