These EL gauges suck!

I have 3 of them, water, oil and boost.

When working they look wicked as they match the EL Z dials

(which are currently broken (inverter dead)) Grrr

The backlight on my boost gauge failed. I changed the power feed and inverter and was still dead. Changed the gauge and is working again but not exactly the same colour as the old one.

I thought oh well, they all work now. Glued my pod in place.

Now the EL backlight on my water temp gauge has stopped working GRRR!

Hopefully it will be the power feed, fuse or inverter. If its the gauge again i will have to rip the pod off the dash!

Note to self - dont glue the pod on! Grrr

Turns out the water gauge had, broke and worked intermittantly, same after changing the inverter. I bought another water gauge and then my new boost gauge started doing the same thing, was dull and flickering!

thats 3 out of 5 gauges that have failed!

I sent a right long stroppy email to the Gaugeplace as i got the boost gauge from them. The bloke Nick replied within an hour saying he had only had about 2 out of 200 el type gauges back and the ones i got from ebay will be copys that have not passed gc testing. He very kindly sent me a new boost gauge and the other two for only a tenner each. I checked the boxes the new gauges came in and sure enough they had holograms on them which the other ones didnt!

Hopefully i wont have probs with the new ones and I will have a matching dash again.

Thumbs up to Nick at the Gaugeplace website!
