BASS how low can you go/

Not really after a lot of bass really its just im gonna gut the original stereo system and start from new,

in the front im going to put some 6 1/2 component speakers,

What I would like to do in the rear is put some 6 1/2 inch subs in (am i correct in assuming this is the biggest you can fit) anyoone know of any which give a nice ammount of bass without making my car sound like an Xr3i on heat smile.gif

Hello Mike,

You're not gonna get any real bass out of the back speaker locations as they are. Your best best is to get a small bass tube to go in the boot. Do a search as there was a post about this a couple of weeks ago.

If you need to buy any stereo gear, Bob is the man and he's in the contacts section (Safe & Sound).

If you want reasonable bass without taking up the whole boot get a set of 6" Cerwin Vega`s up front with a decent Amp. You will be surprised how much bass these suckers can kick out.

6x4`s will go straight in the back without any cutting but are to small to kick low down.

Cerwin Vaga! nice bit of kit quite hard to find in uk but you can order them direct from the USA a lot cheeper

we use CV in the pro market and they have a rep for db rather than quality.

im going to get some cv 6x9 and 6x4 to replace the jbls in allready. they do some tasty 10" subs to going to look into this a bit deeper this mounth after pay day, as the credit card is full!

you dont buy a z for practicality so why worry about losing boot space ditch it alltogether and get uncle bob to build you a nice big sub enclosure for those 30hz moments that the ladies love

You know it makes sense!

I deal in CV gear so can do a good deal on it, the mark up to retail is crazy so don`t be put of by advertised prices.

cheers guyz, there is a cerwin vega shop around the corner from me, my m8 has some in his mr2 and they are quite good,

I probably will replace the fronts first and do a bit more research into the rears,

I don't really want any bass tubes or boxes though as i don't want to give the image of some punk 20 year old driving around blurting out bass, plus i am fussy about having a balenced system, I may just get some 2 ways in the rear with the cerwin vegas up front and run the lot off a 4 channel amp,

Give me a call Mike, i`ll sort you a good price on them.

hehe :O) all i put in my boot is my gym bag and squash raquet, I just don't want toooo much bass,

trust me my Z is more practicle than my other car smile.gif a 1967 MG Midget,

big subs doesnt always mean booming bass when used with dolby surround or any games console its awesome even when the volume isnt high.......lol i traded in a triumph spitfire for my z......vega are very good but i have seen them fail in a big way with a mate of mine but his are those stupid large one with the metal pin thing in the middle of them

yeah I have a preamped Kef Sub for my Home Cinema system smile.gif that gives out just enough bass for my liking,

I just carry the bag and raquet to pose frown.gif im sorry ;(

Anyone got any dead big Jamos??? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Just remember CV! is for db not quality and that stupid pin in the middle is to stop over excursion of the voice coil cos that dont do um any good!

bob could be interested in your prices on CV! Email your tel no to us and will have a chat

if you take the front door panels off you will find that there is a large metal plate that the original speakers screw to, remove this (3 screws i think) enlarge the hole in the door panel and you can get 6x9s in there. i have a kicker 8" box in the boot it is about a foot cubed in size and fits just under the rear parcel curtain, without being seen from outside, also i have seen a JL AUDIO 10" sub that replaces the polysterene tool kit, fits snugly under the carpet, it was on the american jl audio site, i hope this helps.

If you're after bass boxes for the boot and want room for your T-tops then check out www.jlaudio.com and follow the link to stealthboxes.
