Hi

Have been trying to buy a HID conversion kit but am gettting confused by the bulbs.

Have searched the site and it comes up with H3 low beam and H1 high beam.

When I go to some sites and choose 300zx 1990 to 1996 it comes up with 9006 low beam and 9005 high beam and H3 fog beam.

What is the difference and what bulbs should I get.

My car is a 1990 SWB TT Jap import.

Thanks

Darrell

Have a chat to Dan at DTA, in traders section, got mine from him on a group buy and he was very helpful. I had no idea what it was all about until I spoke to him and he explained everything clearly, top bloke

9005 and 9006 - U.S fitment ?

Yes 9005 and 9006 are US version fitment and won't fit jap import. Why nor buy a proper HID kit that come with ballast and all the rest instead of wasting £30 - £40 on bulb that wont even see past your bonnet. I've thried them and they are not worth it.

Good luck

I am trying to buy a hid conversion kit but need to know what bulbs.

Take it that the 9005/6 won't fit then as they are for US.

Darrell

I have a H3 6000k Kit (will fit Jap and Uk dipped beam) available. New and Boxed.

Purchased 2 sets for both zeds, but have since broken one zed before fitting.

£140

I have basically bought one off a guy on ebay but he is saying he dosent have the H3 bulbs so was hoping that the 9006 would fit.

He has said he will give me my money back but he is taking an age to do that so don't have the funds at the moment thanks legarth.

OK - here is the definitive answer (I sell these so know what is what ;)):

If you're fitting HID's, for UK and JDM Z32's the dip beam needs to be H3 fitment, high beam is H1 fitment and fog lights are again H3 fitment.

The 9005/9006 reference is for US/Canadian Z32's and WILL DEFINITELY NOT fit a JDM/UK/Euro Z32.

There is usually some confusion regarding H3 and H3C bulbs but this is only relevant if you're replacing the bulbs with regular halogen bulbs. In that case if you have a JDM Z32 you'll need H3C bulbs for your dip beam. If you have a UK Z32 then you need H3 bulbs. If you are installing a HID kit then both JDM and UK Z32's need to have an H3 kit fitted. All the connections for these bulbs will be there so there will be no guessing which wire connects to where.

If you're still after a good kit, and decide not to go for David's (Legrath) then give me a shout and I'll sort you out with one of our kits.

Hope the above has been helpful in one way or another.

Regards,

Dan

Yes very thanks.

It clears it up once and for all.

Perhaps we should get this posted in the technical area for the future.

I have HID's, but if I'd come across the Halfrauds Ultra bright 80 watt replacement bulbs firts I proberbley wouldn't have bothered. These are really very good and onlt £17 each. you'd be hard pressed to tell which was HID and which was the Ultra Bright.

I tried loads of extra bright bulbs including the PIAA offerings and Had to replace one of the bulbs on an other car and couldn't get a PIAA replacement for 2 weeks so I stuck a Halfrauds Ulra Bright in as a temp measure and was blown away by the fact it was so much Brighter than the PIAA's. So try these first.
