F-ing Traction Control

It still aint F-ing right, ever since I got the Damn thing. It works then doesnt.

Who used the wiring for TT.net?

Is that right, becuase if the inline fuse goes on the TC box, the whole F-car wont work, becuase that is the power to the ECU.

I really Feked off about it. It dangerous. It works for a day, I try pull out of into traffic quickly and cos it then stops working my car comes to a grinding halt when it reaches 1750rmp.

F-ed off with it really.

You've wired it wrong. You do not interrupt the power to the ECU, you just tap into it.

The ONLY wires that are cut are the ones to the injectors.

And it sounds like the config is screwed.

8. Splice the red Racelogic wire into the white (red dot in 2.) ECU wire (red square in wiring diagram above). Again, do NOT cut the white wire, just remove some

insulation and connect the Racelogic wire to the bare wire.

Mine has been switched off for ages now, mainly due to "I can't be arsed with it now until..." I get my new wheels on and a few other minor bits and pieces sorted! LOL biggrin.gif

What's wrong with yours? Thought AndyP set it up for you.

Tim

As Stu pointed out, I wasn't convinced that mine was working all the time when it should either! When Andy configured mine and we checked the config it had configured for a four cyl car. We copied the config from Andys car which was not long after it came back from SE.

Anyway, I had mine constantly set on Wet and whilst out with the Mrs on a few occasions the back end let go.

I still need to log on and see how the config is setup but as I said, at the moment I can't be arsed. Far too much going on with other stuff like making sure I've got all my body parts at LEONARDOS in time for next week etc.

Hectic or what? wink.gif

P.S. bald rear tyres, wheels on back to front and a James Bond oil slick probably didn't help traction anyway! ROFL biggrin.gif

Well. It was done correctly. I did get a feed from the power with out cutting it. I have re-wired it ALL again now. Hope this makes it better.

£600 for a metal tin at the moment.

NOw its only firing on 5. mad.gif

Any one want a £600 paper weight? It wont even be able to do that right. Its too light.

I'm gonna take it off until RaceLogic ask for it back. mad.gif

Stuart

I know that the Soup guys had major problems getting their configurations spot on. There was a decent post on their BBS about it a while ago. I tried to do a search but can't login...bummer!

I've found that the back end slides out on my Zed occasionally in the wet but it's always controllable, adds a bit of spice!

I think that on shite road surfaces in the wet and on corners the car will slide no matter what gadgets you have!

Once you reach the limit of lateral traction you're sliding baby - no matter whether the wheels are turning or not !

I agree with Andy, I suspect that some of us are driving harder thinking that we won't slip slide around with TC to back us up! TC is a safety device, not a performance mod. wink.gif

It's there to hopefully get you out of the preverbial shite when it goes pear shaped, not to enable you to drive harder! IMHO

I found when i put TC on my car, it makes you drive faster than before lol.

And as Pingram says, once youve lost it youve lost it, i ended up spinning down the road like a Spindle biggrin.gif shat myself, then took abotu 2 weeks to trust the TC again.

After thinking about it, i realised that i had simply gone into the corner to fast, and come out Looking like a prat lol.

Or ponce as im called.

Sorry Timmy , gotta disagree !!

Phil Wall over on the soop site has done a lot of testing/config with the RLTC .....

He sent me a dat file that is tweaked to perfection.

The result is a *definate* performance mod !!

The perfectly controllable drift is suberb and puts a smile on my face everytime I go out in it..... Even showed a couple of scoobs and a 4wd Audi TT the way round the twisties last week.

In the wet , obviously it is more a safety conscious mod , but I can still hoof it around a *lot* more

He's a very helpful guy... maybe he could send you a dat file to try?? you could do worse mate , cos it sounds like you're missing out on a whole lotta fun....

You will have a lotta love for the RLTC with optimised settings.

BTW the soop board has just been upgraded and has a few gremlins that are being sorted... but it seems ok at the 'mo

HTH

Seems funny that all these modern bloody performance cars have T/C and a button to turn the fucker OFF to have more fun.

Perhaps I'm missing the point but I dont want no arse £600 bag of wires and shite telling my engine when to fire.

But then I do have a manual gearbox so I.. no no no stop that shit Glen right now.

I was very suspect of getting it. But i think its awesome. Once you have configured it, works like a dream, and like blow me says (ooohhh young man lol) getting my car to powerslide now is so easy, and it really sounds wicked when using launch control.

all the popping and farting from the exhaust lol, is cool.

But best of all is the sideways action (as mr Ingram can testify to lol) biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

well untill you overcook it and then spend the best part of a month learnign to trust it again.

I agree, WHEN IT WORKS, it is amazing. I go round round-a-bouts, with my foot plastered to the floor, and I end up going round them at speeds I wouldnt even dream of doing.

But you have to use it in moderation, having your foot heavy on the floor before you enter the corner, and you are asking for trouble.

P.S. If the inline fuse does go, you car WILL STALL. The injection fire pulse goes from the ECU into the TC box to the coils. If the fues goes, the pulse will reach the TC box and stop there becuase there is no power. So be warned.

I thought the same .........

and bought it mainly 'cos driving in the wet meant not being able to turn the stereo up or driving like a pussy!!

I figured I could turn it off when dry (and do often for donuts , quick 180s etc) wink.gif but when I wanna go as fast as poss it goes on 20% or 10% depending on how much arse out action I prefer biggrin.gif

dont need it never have never will unless of course i get rich enough to buy the new lambo in which case you dont get a choice but hey i dont care if im in one of them

I didnt think the I did. All I know that is when my foot is down in the wet in 2nd gear, the wheels spin like a bitch. Even with S02's. When I pull out of junctions fast, I usually have the arse sliding out. Which is fun, but one day it may not come back to me and end up hitting another car or even worse a person.

Stuart

Well I suppose it depends largely on how you view TC. Some say it's a performance mod but I view it as a safety mod.

Being a bit of a pussy driver when it comes to 180's, doughnuts and taking roundabouts like a nutter isn't my cup o' cha I'm afraid guys! wink.gif

------------------

sig.gif

I bought mine as a safety device after a few scary moments on damp roads catching me out in a big way.

Since fitting it it has become a massive performance mod.

I can drive SO much faster with it and the variable slip settings have produced some spectacular "Magnum P.I" powerslides that I wouldn't have been able to hold without it biggrin.gif

When it rained I used to take my other car, now I jump in the Z with a grin on my face and get sideways out of every junction safe in the knowledge that i'm not going lose it and slam the rear arch into an oncoming car.

Guys, you're a testimonail for buying a TT-Supra ('cse it has stock traction control) or a Stealth/3000GT/GTO-TT ('cse is has AWD), aren't you ?

That's why we all go for RLTC..... smile.gif
