hi all

i am having a problem with my car, i thought it was a rear bearing away, on the drivers side but once i have got the car up in the air i can see thats its actually the arm that links the hub to the rack itself. the play is in the ball joint at the end of the rack. and is clearly visible when the wheel is moved

my question is this, i have a elimination bar to go in but, will i still need to replace this arm? how do i get it off and can it be simply tightened up? i have put a big spanner on the socket side of the joint that looks like a big square but it just turns the whole shaft through the rack,

can someone please shed some light on my problem.

cheers

and its 614

The sqaure nut under the gaiter should undo without spining its 30mm they are normally thread locked on so maybe tight .You have to use a balljoint breaker on the hub end you will need to replace the hole arm .And yes it still needs doing even with a hicas lock bar .

put a spanner on both sides of the rack.you need to hold one side to undo the other.

You didnt on the electric rear hicas rack i removed the arms from havent tried a hydralic version. They came undone one side at a time .

andy how bizzzar?

i have a new set of arms on the way to go with the eliminator bar!

Yep had to do this on mine. One spanner on each side of the rack. Once one comes off then there's a flat I think that you can put a spanner on and undo the other side.
