guys

just had the zed back after a full engine rebuild and the tubs i used were turbo technics stage 1 these have adjustable wastegates and are set at 14psi from the manufactures, they also have staggered seals as i have decatted also,

question is :smash:

am i ok to run at 14psi with the stock ecu?? it is socketed to take a remapped ecu if i need,

my mods are se-nissan twin induction kit, decatted, stainless exhaust, stage 1 tubs, stock internals.

any help much appreceated.

should be ok at 1 bar with an uprated ECU to set the fueling correctly however you are very near to max duty on the stock injectors at that boost

hope to be doing the same with mine when Kirbz gives me a hand fitting my boost controller .....nice winter job with the new Border front mount IC

nononononononono! the hard work's been done to desolder the stock eprom and solder on the socket. all you need to do now is get hold of a chip - JWT are good, John Dixons are better. should be looking at the £50-£60 mark for one of those.

I'd be surprised if it is socketed and has a standard ECU map in there ....

I agree as most chips have the legs destroyed in the removal process

yep i can assure you that the ecu is socketed & the origional refitted,

how do i know this well:-

i fitted the se-nissan aggresive chip and it detonated its nuts off and took the engine with it, burned a hole straight through my piston, later i found out that i should have changed the timing so live and learn,

so now i have refitted the origional chip back in there so you guys recon that the jwt is the safest bet??

Hi Dewi. I've got a spare JWT chip if you need one.

The M4 chip off ztechz.net is an absolute treat for a standard car! Had nothing but positive comments as to the driveability and performance of this chip, even over a stock ecu! Be carefull though, there's a lot of corrupt copies of the .bin file out there on the net - the high gear maps are screwed, so be carefull :)

I'm fine thanks Dewi & nice to hear from you again.

Glad to hear you got your PC sorted! John is definately the man for fuel maps he really knows his stuff.

Got my Z back on the road again last week, sold the Focus so it's my daily driver now  The last time I saw you your engine was out. Is she back on the road now?

Thanks for the advice Andy, wouldn't want to pop a piston now!
