I took my car to Zedworld in Tamworth to have a 60k service. I collected the car after having to walk around Tamworth all day in the cold, only to find that when I started her the next day, the new auxiliary belts were slipping. I have now got to travel all the way back to Tamworth just to have them tightened up, costing me another £50 in petrol and other expenses on top (drink etc)! I am NOT happy at all, this really shouldn't happen. I spoke to a guy there, and he spoke to jeff, who first said that he wouldn't re-imburse my expenses, then when I said I wasn't happy with that, came on the phone and said they MIGHT consider it IF it was there fault!! How can replacement belts slipping STRAIGHT AWAY not be their fault!?! Also, I have found that I have needed to top up my coolant every day a little since the service, where as I NEVER had to before it went in there. I am still monitoring the coolant situation, I bled the system myself, and not sure if it is still doing it or not yet. The next couple of days will tell. They also replaced my air con pod with a S/H one, because of the usual screw shaft problem (hanging offat top/hazard lights not staying on etc), and the thing is still quite loose and looks as if it may be on the way out again (although the hazards are working at the mo).

I'm really not being funny, but that is NOT what I expect from a highly regarded independant specialist. I will see what happens when I eventually get back up there, they said they couldn't look at it for a couple of weeks!!! And now I can't afford to go back up there at the moment anyway, cos we have just had a lot to spend out on various things. :mac1:

My sympathy is with you as things like that will definately piss you off. I won't defend the people involved but they were very good to me when I had my cambelt changed. It was summer when I went though so walking round tamworth for 5 hours probably was a bit more pleasent.

A few people have had a few problems with zed specialists on here in the past though.

Last time someone said something negative someone mentioned some can of worms or something. Who keeps worms in a can though?

Belts always need a bit of tightening a few days after they're fitted as they stretch - hardly a major problem and any garage could tighten them up for a few quid if you can't reach down with a spanner and do it yourself.

Water might need a top up just the same after a big service but keep an eye on it.

Fitting a 2nd hand aircon pod is about the only way unless you want to pay stupid money to Nissan (if it's even available now) and the used parts are 15+ years old so no gaurantees really?

Depends how much you paid for the work I suppose.

Cant't agree more!

You probably will be opening a can of worms though, seems to happen every time Zedworld is mentioned!

When I changed my belts they had to be adjusted after a couple of days because they stretched a little, would have been a lot worse if they had over tigthened them.

We have changed a thousand belts at our garage and I cant remember when we had to re-tighten one. If you don't get any joy with Jeff (not had a problem with any of the work he's performed on my car) give Mickeyb a call at ZworX. He'll sort ya.

Ivan :)

More than likely its the alternator belt - all you need to tighten this is a 12mm spanner and a 17mm socket for the top alternator bolt ;) 5 minute job :)

Flippin eck mate you make it all sound so bad.

"having to walk a round tamworth all day"

Quite honestly when ever i go there, for 40 quid odd i stay overnight in a hotel/BB so as you make a short break outta it, no matter where yer car is, you have to fill time in!

You clearly live a fair ole distance away from tamworth so clocked up miles, in many cases yes as already been pointed out a belt can now be stretched, doubtful all 3 of them, usually just the one, no biggie it happens sometimes.

"I now have to travel all the way back again"

Simply have a look yer self or pop into any local garge and 10 mins later job done.

"I have found that I have needed to top up my coolant every day a little "

Search this forum and you will see the number of threads on filling the coolant again after a refil, it's one of those PITA jobs on a Zed which never seems to always be filled a 100% 1st time round, as with ANY car after a coolant refil, check and add a little if required, just one thing, where are you taking the low level sign from and where are you re filling, rad cap, bleed screw or expansion bottle at the side of rad ??

Hopefully as you can see bud, alls not quite as it seems when looking ath the bigger picture. Next time yer up that way in the future, call in and ask Jeff if you can look round his many breakers for a better pod that your happy with.

cheers

Don't suppose you have an underdrive pulley as well? These are well known for slipping after a new belt is fitted ;)

As above.

Just done my cambelt and had to adjust the belts a little after a day or two. And the water took a while to settle.

Never had any probs with zedworld personally.

Well, I suppose I may have got a little carried away!! Whatever, I am not slagging jeff off, he has been VERY helpful over the phone on many occasions, and sorted loads of things out with his invaluable advice.

I used Zedworld and found it good - I know a few people on here have had disputes with them but I think any motor trader will get that.

I had my 60,000 mile service done by another 300ZX specialist who I believe did a good job.

Like yours, my belts started slipping within a couple of days. I think the cold weather doesn't help. They offered to tighten them but it was miles away. They gave me instructions and I did it myself - it only took about 20 minutes and is an easy job.

As for the coolant I think they'll have replaced the water pump too so there may be a little air n the system working it's way out.

As for them paying your expenses, I think consumer law says the onus is on you to get the car to them.

I think the Zen Garage have a workshop somewhere near you - well nearer than Zedworld anyway - I believe they're a good Zed specialist if you don't want to use Zedworld any more.

It's annoying when you've spent all that money - I hope you get it sorted one way or another. Good luck with it.

i have NEVER had a prob with Zed world always been very good to me

im sure there is a reason why this has happened, jeff is sound :)

I had my belts changed with Jeff as I had only had the car for a week or two and didn't want to delv in myself. My altinator belt squeals sometimes but only when the battery has had a hemmering and needs a good charge, any other time its bang on.

I must admit walking around Tamworth is not my idea of a good day out so if I go again I will pop into Drayton Manor park just around the corner and spend the day there.

first time there me and my mate found the Wetherspoons near the market and spent most of the day in there! lol

anyway dont diss Tamworth. theres like, a castle, a market...
