November 6, 200618 yr yep, I saw the vid but was told about it by the little girl of a friend as they witnessed it first hand. The guy was very lucky he wasn't killed. Smoke inhalation can be bad. Hope he recovers quickly
November 6, 200618 yr Yep seen it all over youtube. That car was simply awesome! They are now retiring it but there are more fireforce cars in the team. The driver is absolutely fine. He had a check up at the medical centre and was given the ok - all he wanted was a fag LMAO  Thats true as well!
November 6, 200618 yr ive seen most of there cars , glad to see he got out ok , not good for dragracing at the mo , glad no one was hurt i hope they dont stop it , looked to me like the parachute launched way to early and caught fire which started it all off ,
November 7, 200618 yr Fireforce 1 Jet car. Owned by Martin Hill and driven by Tony Baker, at Santa Pod's annual Flame & Thunder show. Saturday evening, 4th November, 2006. The car left the line, both parachutes deployed, then a small shower of sparks shot out of the jet tube followed by flame from all around the back of the car. Then the entire car errupted in a fireball! Tony eventually managed to stop the car at the top of the track, and escaped unharmed, appart from some smoke inhalation. The firesuit and safety equipment allowed him to survive such a horrific fire. Sadly the car didn't fare so well, and will be retired. A sad loss to drag racing events, as Fireforce 1 was most people's first experience of seeing, hearing, and feeling a jet car in the UK. Inspection of the car has shown the jet engine itself is intact, and no fan blades were lost.
