Thinking about getting one, Argos seem to have it pretty cheap with added extras, any other deals out there?

lol thats bull m8;)

they MAY and its a BIG may introduce a live update to stop you playing online

think about it, how many users have illegal copies of windows, and if they issued something that fried a comp they would be sued to hell and out of business now

there are people taking action against m/s because of overheating power supplys on the 360, so NO WAY will they introduce something that renders YOUR console useless,

again they MIGHT for the future introduce games that are harder to reincode

but again it will only be a short term thing

there are currently 60-70 games that have been "enabled" to play on a flashed drive;)

the only TECHNOLOGY they have brought out since this kicked of is they have glued the part in that was needed to be "got at" and made it harder to be flashed apart from that nothing has altered m8;)

Totally agree. Perish the thought that any company would make it known that they have any control of your equipment remotely? I have heard loads of stories about something going PHUUT! one week after the warrenty runs out. Especially the PS2? Whats that all about?

Actually the software on the console technically belongs to microsoft and they can do what they want to it and when you buy the console you are actually buying a licence to use the microsoft machine. Its all in the licence agreement you get to read AFTER you've bought the console. So hypothetically if MS put out an update that 'bricked' modded consoles then they're perfectly within their 'legal' rights.

I think the phut you refer to is the high failure rate of the consoles. They say its a small number but everyone I know except for about 3 have had to send theirs back for repair, luckily MS have done the right thing and although the warranty only says 3 months, they'll realistically take back machines that have been around since launch (mines recently gone south and will have to go back). Hopefully they have got their QA sorted now so if you get one it probably won't give out on you. Quite a few PS2s have had problems with their lenses moving but its only when they get really old (ive had mine for 5 years and its still going strong), its also something you can remedy at home with a couple of tools and a bit of TLC.

SOFTWARE yes, ie they are within their rights to TRY and ban modded machines from THEIR live services, problem is this is all rumour and the updates in question have been screwing machines at random, not that any sensible person would have a modded machine connected to the net,

let alone run updates

as i said rumours that it was was modded machines m/s were after

good advertising on the eve of ps3 (wonder who put the rumours out?)

Just got my mates 360 chipped £50.Also runs all the new games fifa 07, Tiger woods 07, Iss pro 6 etc.
