I have just dropped the stock Kumho's which I had on the car when I got it. (Actually I had 3 sets!) I replaced them with Avon ZZ's.

Wow what a difference, I used to think the car suffered fom understeer and a general lack of grip. It wasn't the car it was the tyres. I can actually drive it like a sports car now!

As Dave Marley will agree it does grip now!

I strongly recommend taking a look. 2 new rears £187.65. Bargain. Supplier name in Bracknell supplied on request!

Simon,

i have these on the back of mine, i bought them last year.

They are good, and hard wearing, i have done about 12,000 miles on mine, and probably have another 8-12,000 life left, and i do like to use the grip....

But, beware in the rain, they are not that good when it gets wet. Mine spin sometimes when i pull away from junctions, without going over 2,000rpm, can be frustrating...

I will be going for S02's next time though.

I'd certainly agree that Simon's car goes round corners (and in straight lines for that matter) bloody quickly!

I would also agree that the performance of S02s in the wet is very good. The difference between those (which I currently have) and the Japanese-spec tyres I had on before is astonishing.

BTW Simon, what happened to those pictures you took?

Dave, oops, forgot, will send them to you. what's your address?

Mail me at smpass@freenet.co.uk as I deleted your last mail. Fitted the SLd yet?

Simon

Simply click on the icon with the face at the top of my message and everything will become clear...

I haven't fitted the SLD yet, no. I'm waiting for Johnny to send me some instructions.

Hi,

I've also got the Avon ZZ1 tyres. Great in the dry, but absolutly terrible in the wet. You will slide all over the place.

Getting away from junctions and roundabouts is a nightmare in the wet. The rear tyres just keep spinning.

Go for Goodyear F1 or Bridgestone S-02 next time. I will.

S02 - S02 - S02 - S02...

Did I tell anyone about S02s?

Very good in the dry and wet. Very difficult to spin the tyres / loose grip in comparision with my old cheapy Falcons, great on the track, thick walls which prevent you from hitting your alloys on the curb! Maybe, I should get a job in Bridgestone sales... mmm

And before anyone says it, that's with the traction control turned OFF (and a good 400bhp+, 400+plus what - must do a rolling road some time...)

Jez.

I told you that my S02s were great and that your Falken's, although cheap, were probably crap, but would you listen? Oh no.

Incidentally, anyone in the South East looking for tyres at a good price could do a lot worse than try Micheldever Tyres near Winchester (01962 774437). I think mine were around 110 for the front and 125 for the rear, fitted(standard wheels). I think they also deliver.

They're also good value for bike tyres, so I've been told.

I paid £550 for the whole set... from a place in Slough.

As 'Alesi' said, the Goodyear Eagle F1's are worth getting. I paid £460 for a full set from National tyres.

Wet or dry, they have loads of grip. The tread pattern looks great too (the reason why I bought them- sad git or what!!!)

Dave

I have had appx 10 sets of tyres over 112,000 miles on my 300. Everything from the original Michelein MMX3 through Pirelli, dunlop etc. etc. Now I am on Bridgestone Eagle F1's. They are truly amazing in both the wet and dry and they look the biz. They also seem to be lasting well.Purchased from Elite in Rainham appx £600 the lot for UK spec size wheels.
