Broken down, but having my exhaust fitted hmmff....

Well guess what, come up to sheffield to have my new exhaust fitted and 2 miles from junction 34 where i get off my bloomin cars rad blows.

Exactly the same problem as with my na's rad, the input on the left hand side blew clean off

Lucky i have a spare rad at home but i'll be going home on a low loader, oh well...

old exhausts and cats are off and new cross flow is being mackled up as we speak, i just happen to be using pete's pc while he's having brekky :D

There goes all the plans for this afternoon out the window!

Well got back. So basically, finished fitting the exhaust at 5pm, been stuck there all day.

We tried to patch up the leak by fitting a t shaped rubber seal with a metal tube inside to clamp the outside of the plastic to in the vain hope the rubber seal would stop the water coming out.

Started it up... and it leaked so decided to drive to the local pizza hut, call the aa and wait there.

Exhausts sound good, boomy but not too intrusive inside the cabin even with the seats down and no sound deadening in the boot lining.

Got out and popped the hood and the steam had stopped leaking, temp was normal so thought, fu*k it, i'll try and see how far i get.

Heater on full with the fan on to aid cooling, keeping a distance between me and the traffic.

Got two junctions down to 32 then bang, big steam coming out.

Plastic had cracked and the killed the rad. Pullled over straight away, aa came and brought me back by 8.30pm

Spent the rest of the night trying to remove my old rad to replace with my spare one using a wind up torch in the pissing freezing cold (5 degrees c brrr)

Couldn't get enough pressure on the bottom pipe to secure it while i tightenend up so basically it dumped about 3 litres all the way down the road and back.

Now the car is stalling, stinks of petrol, and there's popping in the exhausts and i assume the temp sensors wire which were on the cats is the thing that's hanging down rubbing against the floor.

I may have completely fooked my car in under a day! I need sleep to get rid of this headache

youl appreciate it all the more.

nice nick can not see from the photo but are the pipes the same as on this one

Oh Bunny sweetie as Saz says I doubt you've compeletly fook it all up. Just take a deep breath then have a good look at it.

All the best mate and big hug :)

Sarah, yep they're exactly the same exhausts. I didn't know you had those originally? Why did you change them?

UPDATE: Well, its running now, managed to fix the leak on the radiator. The cap wasn't gripping tight enough and water was leaking out, managed to plastic weld the top overflow pipe on from the old rad using a small syringe body, a soldering iron and a load of patience.

It's solid now and all i have to do is get some p40 glass fibre filler to smooth it off and strengthen it.

No water is coming out at all and the temperature is normal

Only problem is when i reversed onto the grass verge and i heard a crunh, i may have cracked my down pipe.

As i'm driving along with the exhausts cold, there's loads of pops and bangs, may just be the exhausts bedding in but it stopped when the exhausts heated up and they sound great.

I think the asbo is on the way though for pure volume on the outside, my bro says it sounds like a tvr tuscan on the outside yay!

Just the tps (and possibly the downpipe) to replace then i'll be sorted.

Wahey Bunny progress :)
