Not really raced anything of note in 3 years! frown.gif get the normal BWM/Merc/Vectra rep guys up your ass at 80mph but they seem to dissapear once the twins start spinning, when they eventually catch up they tend to stay behind me at 70mph in the middle lane scolded, even though I leave the outside lane clear biggrin.gif )

But after one of my front tyres blew out at 70mph on the M25 eariler this month I have been taking it easy, not breaking 110mph. Cos imagine if a tyre went out on you at 165mph! eek.gif

I wanna see if I can get some of those James Bond flat run tyres before going over 130mph! biggrin.gif private road nick named the "M23" officer biggrin.gif )

Taking on a TVR along a straight is suicidal,

if its something like the Griffith or Cerbera you won't stand a chance because these cars are all power and weigh very little. Friend of mine has a Griffith and told me it's mass is about 900kg with pretty much the same power (~300bhp), so thats a very high power/weight ratio. Around corners is a different story though....

Theres also the reliability issue. My friend has had a lot of trouble with his in the past.

As regards to losing races, I havent lost any (yet!), but have had a couple of goes against some high powered cars that I would of had if it were not for traffic getting in the way!.

Keep at it though!!

Cheers

Tony

Which TVR was it? And he left you at 165? is that mph or kph?

You were doing 165!!! and he left you standing!, what was he driving a Cerbera?

You don't take one of those on unless you got 400plus under you right foot. I think those Cerberas are 180 out of the box.

The Only Car to take me off the lights on the road, was a Caterham 7 with a 2 Litre engine.

I've had a race with a TVR Griffith and one, we were level up to 100, then I left him from hundred pulling 4 car lengths onhim

a Caterham will hit 60 between 3-4 seconds, the Griffith will hit 60 in 4-5 seconds depending on the drivers reaction time etc. etc..

Very nearly lost to a Sapphire Cossie a few weeks back, but similar to your situation matey. I started to leave him at about 160 as I reckon he was maxed out! LOL biggrin.gif

Fookin' fast Cossie though! wink.gif

Raced a Porch 911 about a month or two ago on the M6, stayed with him but I backed off in the end. Only so many times you can keep hitting 130 and then it gets boring! Especially when what you're racing won't move over which means he's worried that you'll come past! biggrin.gif Oh well, will never know now. Bummer! ROFL biggrin.gif

I actually had a quick blast with an F50 Ferrari on Monday going down the M25.

He was cruising next to me at 80mph i had my targas off and he had the roof off!!! He looked accross at me (his spoiler was bigger than mine so i got a bit jealous)so i flicked the switch for HIGH boost, dropped it into 3rd,planted the throttle to the floor and started to pull away..........until i heard bang bang bang (tiptronic gearbox being knocked down from 6th to 3rd) waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa and 3 seconds later i was a metallic grey Nissan 300zx BLIP in his rear view mirror........I'd love to tell you all i caned his £250,000 arse but i've told you the truth now so there you go!!!

I had a race with my friends TVR Tuscan from a standing start, and at 40mph I was a good four car lengths in front of him, and feeling good about myself, untill he came past a second later like I was stopped!, something to do with 400bhp, and weighing the same as a pack of crisps!

They have the reputation of having the build quality of a packet of crisps too though.

I'd love one of the new Tuscan S or R whatever the ultra sporty one is.
