Hello People,

Now I know you weren't too keen on the M3 idea but I do value your opinions in general and wondered what you thought of the following response I received. Seems way to cheap...about half market value in fact and I couldn't understand why she took it to spain in the first place.

Has anybody had any experience of this kind of thing...maybe its genuine? What kind of payment protection can I get?

By the way it was advertised in the exchange and mart.

Thanks

Rob

Hello,

Thank you for your e-mail and being interested in my car because i really need to sell it ASAP !

First of all i would like to let you know why i am selling my car so cheap: one mounth ago i moved in Spain because of my job and now i live here with all my familly. The car has the steering wheel on the right side and nobody wants to buy it in Spain because all the cars has the steering wheel on left side here, so i need to sell it to UK because the car is still registered in UK and it's very easy to transfer the registration onto your name, without pay any import taxes or other taxes. Also i need money to buy another car certified in Spain with the steering wheel on left side so i can drive it here, really is not so easy to drive a car with the steering wheel on right side here.

Some words about the car:

02/08/2004 - 19,647 Miles - Inspection 1

17/03/2005 - 31,381 Miles - Oil Service

08/06/2006 - 42,052 - Inspection II

Also, Break Fluid Stamp on 18/03/2005 at 31,381 miles

My car is fully specced and in a fantastic colour combination (Silver Grey is a CSL colour that came out in April 2003). It has an Official BMW Warranty until June 2007 that I purchased at the cost of £1050 only 3 months ago. I also took the car in for its costly inspection II service which cost over £700 in June. There is roughly 9,500 miles before the £140 oil service is due and then another 14,000 miles after that before another inspection 1. The Warranty also includes the well respected BMW Emergency Breakdown service which includes European cover if I'm not mistaken. The Warranty and BMW Breakdown are Fully Transferable with the car.

The Car is protected with the Factory Category 1 alarm system as well as a Tracker Monitor system (transferable for a small admin charge and yearly subscription). Most insurance companies won't insure an M3 without a Tracker. Check yours first.

I hope you'll agree that this car shouldn't cost you a penny until next June unlike most M3's being advertised.

I have the original M3 19" Alloys stored in case you are not interested in paying extra for the CSL Alloys. I believe these wheels make this car something extra special but I am willing to sell the CSL alloys separately where they should fetch around £1500 with tyres. The price includes the ORIGINAL 19" Alloys. The Service schedule has been adhered to and the VERY IMPORTANT 1200 mile service was completed within the 400 mile window that BMW allow. Without this service stamped (or if its later than 1600 miles), BMW will refuse warranty work on the major engine and gearbox components of the car. CHECK EVERY SERVICE BOOK BEFORE PURCHASING YOUR M3.

The price is 12,000.00 GBP including all the shipping taxes and inssurance to UK, the car will be shipped by AIR and will arrive within 7 days after the downpayment has been made.

Now if you understood me and you are really interested to buy my car, i am waiting your e-mail with your decision and i will provide you with the informations about shipping/payment method.

Best Regards !

Thats what I thought...its at least half market value!!!

so how will you look at it if hes in spain?

The person that wrote the introduction DID NOT write the car description in my opinion :wack:

KEEP AWAY

yes, definitely a scam.

if they were that desperate to sell it to uk market you'd think they'd take a week off and come back to uk and sell it to a dealer here and get a flight back to spain.

Chris.

Yes its a scam. This is something similar I received back in September time. I sent "Amy" a message asking if she would be interested in a swap for the Zed, this is the reply.

Hello there,

I appreciate that you contacted me. First of all,the car will be shipped from Helsinki, Finland where I`m located due to my job. I have a car from my job to drive here, so I can`t keep the Lotus anymore, pay insurance and all the associated taxes, as I have a 5 years contract here. It is very difficult for me to drive a right-handed car in Europe, so I`m forced to sell it, but my lost will be your gain.

There is no outstanding finance on the car. It has not been stolen, has no damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained and hasn't been involved in any accident. The motor runs awesome. The tires are like new. The car meets United Kindom DOT and EPA guidelines so there will be no problems regarding UK Customs policy on receiving the car. The car comes with log book, HPI cleared, it is free of encumbrances and liens. You will get from me the keys and all documents to register the car into your name.

Buy it now price is £3,200.00 with shipping/handling included. If the car is not how I`ve described it, I will offer a full refund, upon the return of the item in original condition (return postage at my expense). It will be insured during transportation and will be delivered in front of your door.

The payment will be made through Ebay and only after you will receive the car i will receive the payment. If you agree with these terms, please email me your full name and address and I will be more than glad to start to complete the transaction with you.

Please respond quickly,

Yes, It's a scam. I replied to a very similar add for a 330D and the car was in Greece. The ad was taken off ebay and then readvertised on someone elses account, allegedly coming form Portugal.

I've just recieved a reply to another enquiry on a different car...this one is in portugal too!!! Don't really get the part about it being hard to drive a RHD car in Europe.....why take it there then!!!

I hope nobody ever falls for these scams. Surely driving a RHD car in Europe isn't as hard as having to sell your car for half price!!!

Hello,

As i told you, i am from a short while here in Spain and i am not able to use Escrow because i don't know how it is working here. I have closed some deals through eBay untill now and everything went OK, so i would like to close this deal through eBay so we can be both protected. Yes i assure you that you won't have to pay any import taxes. Just the price for the car

I'll explain you how it is working right now:

1. You have to make 20% downpayment to eBay, your money will be kept in hold

2. I'll start the shipping to you after they will confirm me that the downpayment has been made

3. You will recive the car within 7 days, after you will recive it you have 14 days to test/inspect it.

4. After inspection period you have to confirm to eBay if you are satisfied with the car.

5. If you are satisfied with the car and you want to keep it they will give me your money and you will send me the rest of money

6. If you are not satisfied with the car, you will send it back(taxes paid by me) and they will return your money because they will hold your money before you will confirm them your decision.

I hope you understand that this is safest payment method. If you agree with that please e-mail me your full name and address and they will provide you with all the informations you need to make the downpayment.

I am looking to hear from you soon.

Thank you.

billy bullshit

The Maggot, The Maggot, that's who I am

Always doing a scam,

I punched the lady and stole the baby and the pram,

I even sliced my pen1s up and sold it as ham.

From GLC's "The Maggot"

Regarding that M3, yes, it's a scam.

It won't even be posted on his own ebay account, it'll be one with good feedback that's been hijacked. Report it and/or tell the owner of the account.

That's why he'll want you to contact him directly via Hotmail. No doubt the excuse will be that his ebay messge system is full ....

some chinese gimp hyjacked mine the other week, listed loads of stuff they dont have

This is the email I got from him :-

termatus99@hotmail.co.uk

I know that you have many choices on eBay and I appreciate that you

contacted me.

Although I am registered in the UK, but I recently moved in Thessaloniki,

Greece (where my family is from) and the car is being shipped from here. I

made the auction for UK due to the fact it's UK version (right handed), meet

all the UK standards, and its better to ship it where it belongs, that means

UK, because here in Greece is very difficult to drive this type of vehicle,

so i am trying to sell it as low as i can to complete the sale fast (my loss

will be your gain). It still has UK registration, cos I didn't paid for

Greece import taxes. The car meets United Kindom DOT and EPA guidelines so

there will be no problems regarding UK Customs policy on receiving the car.

The car is in a perfect cosmetic and engine conditions, and meticulously

maintained. No damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, the engine

doesn't smoke, runs and sounds awesome, the engine has never been repaired

or something like that, never been into accidents and it is as advertised

.The car comes with log book, HPI cleared, it is free of encumbrances and

liens. You will get from me the keys and all documents, and also a bill of

sale in your name and signed by me.

If the car is not how i described it, i will offer a full refund, upon the

return of the item in original

condition (return postage at my expense). It will be insured during

transportation and will be delivered at your front door in maximum one week.

Final price is £4,400.00 (this price includes the shipping and insurance).

I will have ebay to contact you with the transaction details in order to buy

under their PURCHASE PROTECTION & REFUND PLAN.

I will wait your email

Respectfully,

Michael

God it would be nice if you could get things so cheap eh?!!!! I think they need to come up with a better story ...on reflection there is nothing believable about a man or woman who takes a car abroad then suddenly decides they want to sell it in the UK weeks later!!!!

why not ask for a picture of them with the car? String them along and waste their time!!!

I've had loads, mine all started when I sold a car. I just string them along a bit then when I get bored point out I know its a scam lol

A colleague had the same with an Audi TT in Italy. He nearly got on a plane to view it but decided it was too good to be true. Reasons for sale were identical. The emails were very convincing.

i smell Nigerian all over it .................. get her / him / to post a picture of himself with the car to show its genuine with a password on a board held by themselves to show its not a fake photo , like the guy from wigan did ..........something like "i shag goats" on the password ..then post it up :)
